[MLB] Police Blamed for Death of Red Sox Fan

The blame for the death of Victoria Snelgrove, a 21-year-old Red Sox fan who was killed during the pennant-winning celebration that carried on outside of Fenway Park, has been placed at the feet of the police department.

An independent investigation attributed the death to the lack of training for use of the pepper-pellet guns used for crowd control and the decision to fire them into the raucous crowd on October 21, 2004, just hours after the Sox defeated the Yankees in the ALCS.

The city of Boston paid a little over $5 million in a settlement with the Snelgrove family.
