TNT will make its return to original weekly series in an uninterrupted format, choosing to go commercial-free for the premiere of “The Closer.”
“The Closer” stars Kyra Sedgwick (“The Woodsman,” “Singles”), taking her turn as a lead in a drama series, as Brenda Johnson, a CIA-trained interrogator who moves from Atlanta to Los Angeles to head an LAPD unit that deals with homicides.
The premiere episode finds Johnson and members of her police squad investigating a murder at the home of a wealthy computer executive. In addition to Sedgwick, the show stars Corey Reynolds (“The Terminal”), Michael Paul Chan (“Robbery Homicide Division”), Robert Gossett (“Arlington Road,” “Dark Angel”), Jon Tenney (“You Can Count on Me”) and Gina Ravera (“Soul Food”).
Michael Robin (Nip/Tuck) directed the premiere, which was written by producer James Duff (“The D.A.”).
