'Survivor' Headed To Syndication

If two seasons of “Survivor” a year doesn’t fill your Survivor need, you now have reason to check out OLN in the future.

OLN, best known as the home of the Tour de France, picked up rights to the first 10 seasons of “Survivor.” The network will begin airing them on July 24, following the conclusion of the Tour de France, which has brought big ratings jump to the channel in recent years.

“OLN’s mission is to captivate viewers with content that feeds their need for thrills, challenges and the drama of competition, adventure and achievement in the outdoors,” network president Gavin Harvey says. “‘Survivor’ covers all of those areas. What better show to bring to OLN than one that is all about surviving and competing in the great outdoors?”

This marks a change from the traditional network stance of not repeating their unscripted material. But what would be low ratings for a network station can be big gains for a cable channel like OLN.

“‘Survivor’ is in good company on OLN, especially with the premiere following the epic conclusion of Lance Armstrong’s final Tour de France,” “Survivor” executive producer Mark Burnett says. “I’m excited ‘Survivor’ fans are going to be able to revisit their favorite moments from past seasons. It’s a fantastic growth opportunity for OLN and a great partnership for us.”
