'Desperate Housewives' Leads Critic Nominees

Archive

Despite sometimes being at odds with the wims of the general public, The two groups have found some common ground on two of this past season’s biggest hits.

ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” and “Lost,” both of which finished the year ranked among the top 10 shows, were among the leading nominees for the 2005 Television Critics Association Awards. “Housewives” topped the nominations with five, while “Lost” tied with Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” for second with four nominations.

The two rookie sensations helped ABC capture the most nods of any network with 11. FOX, powered by “Arrested Development” and “House,” was next with eight nominations, followed by HBO with seven, PBS with five and CBS with four.

“Lost” and “Desperate Housewives” are both nominated for program of the year. The two will be competing with “Arrested,” “The Daily Show” and HBO’s “Deadwood” for the honor. They’re also nominated for outstanding new program, along with “House,” UPN’s “Veronica Mars” and FX’s “Rescue Me.”
