Vareity has confirmed that Brett Ratner will take control of the X-Men franchise and will helm X-3. Fans will recall that Ratner was, at one point, attached to direct Superman Returns, before Bryan Singer, former X-Men director, took over that project. 20th Century Fox and Marvel Entertainment gave Ratner the nod on Friday night.
Ratner replaces Matthew Vaughn, who left the project a week ago due to personal issues. Ratner will begin directing in eight weeks or so.
Also confirmed to join the cast is Maggie Grace (TV’s Lost). Grace has been cast as Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat) in the sequel.
