[ROH] Quick Results from Manhattan Show; CM Punk to WWE?

Archive

At today’s Ring of Honor show at the Supper Club in Manhattan, CM Punk defeated Roderick Strong in a match that may have been Punk’s second-to-last for the indie promotion. During the bout, there were several chants of “please don’t go” and after the win “thank you Punk.” Several InsidePulse writers were in attendence and reported that at one point, a fan yelled in a derogatory way “see you on Velocity!” and Punk replied “of course you will, since you’ll be watching, you narc (or you mark)!”

PWInsider.com is reporting that while a deal isn’t yet final, things are close, and Punk plans to be at WWE’s TV tapings this week to meet with WWE management. Also on the Web site are reports coming out of yesterday’s IWA: Mid South event where promoter Ian Rotten claimed that Punk was close to a deal and that his final match at RoH would be the World Title fight vs. Austin Aries next Saturday in Morristown, NJ. Reports of the show can be found here.

Also at the ROH show in Manhattan, Punk took the microphone after his win, put over Roderick Strong as the future of the promotion, and said “wherever I’m working Sunday morning, I will win the ROH Title on Saturday” as it’s “the only thing left for me to prove here.”

Full results from the show:

Colt Cabana over Jimmy Rave

The Carnage Crew over The Ring Crew Express in a bloody brawl

Azrieal won the Six Man Mayhem by pinning Izzy (also in the match: ROH Tag Team Champion BJ Whitmer, Jack Evans, Deranged, and Fast Eddie)

The Masked Boston Superstar fought a debuting ROH School Trainee with platinum blonde, curly locks to a no-contest, when Shane Douglas interrupted the match and got booed out of the building. He tried being a babyface, but the crowd turned on him, so he tore ROH a new one and left.

Homicide over James Gibson, featuring lots of dueling “Puer-To-Ri-Co” and “West-Vir-Gin-Ia” chants!

CM Punk over Roderick Strong

Samoa Joe over Nigel McGuinness in a Pure Title. Of course, then Shane Douglas came out again to kill the crowd, and tried to put over ROH (how impressed he was after this match, when before he wasn’t, etc.), but the crowd again hated it. Until Joe basically shook Shane’s hand, accepted his respect, and sort of turned the crowd back in Shane’s favor.

Low Ki pinned Austin Aries in an unsanctioned brawl, after a top rope Ki Krusher

Homicide came out and went to give a top rope spike piledriver (Doublestomp Cop Killa), to break the champ’s neck, but Strong and Evans made the save. Jay Lethal came out and beat on Homicide (which he also did after the previous Homicide match, tossing his neck collar aside and going top rope onto Homicide through a table), who chased him into the crowd. Evans ended the show on a high note by hitting a springboard 720 moonsault and then a Monsta Mack as the crowd went insane.
