Fort Lee, NJ — June 13, 2005 — Archaia Studios Press (ASP) earned itself a Silver for Artesia Afire, the 3rd book in the acclaimed Artesia series, placing it second in ForeWord Magazine‘s 2004 Graphic Novel Book of the Year Awards. This award follows last year’s first-place Gold finish for the first book in the series, Artesia. Gold, Silver and Bronze winners were awarded at Book Expo America during the first weekend in June.
Artesia Afire (ASP, $24.95, ISBN: 1-932386-08-4, 240 pages) was up against 8 other finalists in the graphic novel category. “I can’t tell you how delighted—and, indeed, relieved—I am to hear this,” said Artesia creator Mark Smylie. “When I take a look at the other great books, creators and publishers that Afire was up against, I feel incredibly lucky that my work was honored again by ForeWord.”
