[TNA] TNA and Spike TV in talks

News

World Wrestling Entertainment will depart with Spike TV this fall, but that doesn’t mean Spike TV won’t go without grappling.

Sources close to the network say that they are finalizing a deal with Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling (TNA) for a weekly late-night run.

A few weeks ago, it seemed that TNA would sign on with Superstation WGN, but sources said that the negotiations broke down sometime last week.

Spike TV representatives would only say that the network is “continuing discussions” with TNA. Sources say Spike TV is looking to give TNA a one-hour, late-Saturday-night time slot.

Under TNA’s deal with Fox Sports Net, TNA paid FSN to carry Impact! every Friday from 4:00-5:00.

It’s not clear if TNA will pay Spike TV for the timeslot. Representatives from the organization could not be reached in time for comment.

In April, Spike TV decided to not renew WWE’s Monday Night Raw franchise — which will return to USA Network this fall — in favor of original programming.

Spike TV has made a major commitment to Ultimate Fighting Championship, renewing the reality series, Ultimate Fighter.
