[SD] UPDATED: Controversial Segment Airs in U.S.

Archive

As previously reported, according to PWInsider.com’s Dave Scherer, UPN was sent the Smackdown tape without enough time to edit out the controversial “masked associates” (thought by some to represent a terror cell) segment from tonight’s episode. (Due to the terrorist attacks in the UK this morning, WWE edited the segment out of tapes sent there.)

During the Eddie Guerrero/Rey Mysterio segment on SD, and at least one or two other times, UPN scrolled a message across the bottom of the screen warning viewers: “In light of today’s tragic events in London, parental discretion is advised when viewing tonight’s episode.”

Following the Undertaker win over Hassan, five masked men in black shirts and fatigues came out, beat down Taker, choked him with a wire, and then Hassan executed the camel clutch on the unconscious Taker. At that point, the five anonymous men (according to PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson, they were Val Venis, Mike Shane, Todd Shane, Mike Knox and one more) knelt beside Taker, then carried the “sacrificed”/”martyred” Davairi off, above their heads.

The InsidePulse staff sends our thoughts to all of our UK readers who were in any way impacted by this morning’s horrible terrorist attacks.
