The Sunday HEAT Wave

Archive

Hey everyone, sorry about the no show for last week. It just so happen to be the 4th of July so I decided to take a little vacation. Besides, it was a review show the last time, so we didn’t miss much. But anyway, welcome to another edition of the Sunday HEAT Wave, the bad news about it is it’s YET another review show. Thought I was avoiding this, but I guess it was meant to be. So instead of just giving you what they’re reviewing, I thought I might shake things up a bit. I’ll just put down a quick description of what they are going over, and I’ll post up my thoughts over it with an overall score. And for all of you who read my last review, you know that ain’t such a bad thing. Yeah you know where I’m going next: PPV Predictions from Vengeance a perfect 6-0!!! I put down the gauntlet, rolled the dice and won in Vegas baby! Maybe I’ll prove my own and hopefully make my debut in a roundtable soon. Anyhow, let’s get this review rolling….

Hosts of the night: Todd Grisham and The Coach

Review segment of the Highlight Reel feat. John Cena
Well it looks like they are keeping this feud going, which to me is a good thing. Probably more due to the fact that I mark over both Cena and Chris Jericho, but I believe if they really push this then both of these guys can get the best out of each other. And I like the fact that they pushed on how they were alike (music career wise) and how Jericho was RAW. I dunno, call me crazy, but this (again if elevated and promoted right) can make a feud close to the likes of maybe Austin/ Rock or Rock/ HHH??
Overall: Decent

DVD Review of “The Greatest Wrestling Stars of the 80’s”
Here’s the thing. The wrestling stars of the 80’s were nostalgic, plain and simple. I mean there was Hulk Hogan, Iron Sheik, and of course Sgt. Slaughter in which they are putting the focus on in this segment. Not that I have anything against him, just really don’t care in what they do with his character now, especially that ridiculous Diva Boot camp they had him host last Monday (which unfortunately I’m sure I’ll go into more detail later on). Cliff note version; he was a good guy, bad guy, good guy, American hero.
Overall: Eh….

Quick Heat: Man, just gotta say a few words, what’s the deal with all the cuts recently, ouch!

WWE Japan Tour
They were overseas and showed a few highlights, other than that, don’t know much.

John Cena “Bad, Bad, Man” music video
Generic rap, that’s all I can say. I’ve said it before, nothing to offensive or nothing spectacular. You gotta see it on your own to make your own judgment.

WWE 24/7; IC Title Ladder Match- Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Roman
The “Godfather” of the Ladder matches. What it did during that time was defiantly raise the bar for the gimmick matches and just paved the way for the ladder matches to come. If you haven’t seen it, then do it. Because this one ranks up their in classic matches that you must see.
Overall: Hey we get a “semi” match on HEAT tonight, good enough for me.

Diva Bikini Boot Camp
Ok here’s the thing, because I really don’t wanna be saying this every week, I’m not a big fan over this RAW Diva search. It’s a complete waist of time and it bores me to death. The only plus thing I have to say about this is there’s HOT girls on TV, other than that… it doesn’t get much better than that. And this week it didn’t get much better with them running around the ring, doing a pseudo- boot camp course. So watching this on Monday, all that was racing through my head was when is this gonna end? But hey, you gotta admit, it was pretty funny to watch that girl trying to do a high kick and fall straight on her butt, while the other one who almost lost her top while crawling over the ring. I cant believe I just wrote all that, over this. Sigh.
Overall: ………………………………

RAW: Shawn Michaels and Hulk Hogan vs. Carlito and Kurt Angle
Well I gotta say, I thought this was just going to be a paint by the numbers, Hogan goes on steroids near the end to win the match. Oh wait… he did do that, never mind. Okay, after that point, I thought it was going to be a paint by the numbers endlessly long Hogan and HBK celebration. But to my surprise, it wasn’t. Shawn used it to turn on Hogan, so that was interesting. Most importantly to see where this goes from here will be even more so. But you know Hogan being on TV is just that so he gets a few viewers to check out his new reality show (which looks very BAD by the way, ala Britney Spears). It just goes to show you, who doesn’t have a reality show? Wait, where’s mine then??
Overall: good shocker at the end, not such a great match

HEAT Wave of the Night: I’m not sure I can give anything out this week just for the simple fact it was a review show. But I’m sure everything ‘should’ be back to normal by next week, including my recaps. Don’t forget to catch RAW Monday and any updated news here on the Pulse. And like always, I hope this wasn’t too painful for you to read, and for any of you who are new (or old) to my column, drop me back some feedback, I’d love to hear what you all think. So here’s counting the time until I get my own reality show, until then, I’m out… peace.
