As reported earlier today on IPW, the Ring of Honor fans have reacted for the most part favorably to Matt Hardy’s surprise appearance on RAW last night, and his mentioning of Ring of Honor during his brief mic time.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com is quoting ROH booker Gabe Sapolsky as saying the following on the subject: “I had no idea that Matt was going to mention ROH on Raw. He is truly doing exactly what he wants to do. I think it is a huge compliment when Matt says positive things about ROH and you can tell that it is heartfelt from him. He has stated that he is a fan of the product and it showed on Raw. I think he will get a great reaction from our fans Saturday in Woodbridge, CT and I think we have to opportunity to impress some new fans. Matt is a renegade and it is an honor to have him in ROH.”
On CM Punk still being ROH Champion, after being expected to drop the belt ever since he won it, Sapolsky stated: “I actually haven’t heard one bit of negative feedback as most fans are just going along with the ride that Punk is taking us on. When was the last time that no one knew or could predict what was going to happen? I don’t even know what is going to happen. This is a very unique situation and personally it is causing me a lot of anxiety and difficulty in booking future events. Some day I will write a book on this whole thing.”
CM Punk, who has been signed to a WWE developmental deal, defends the title vs. James Gibson (Jamie Noble) this Saturday in CT on the same card as Matt Hardy’s ROH debut vs. TNA X Division Champion Christopher Daniels.
