[SD] Velocity Preview, Reason for no Axl/Balls Match

Archive

According to both PWInsider.com and PWTorch.com, Axl Rotten & Balls Mahoney were scheduled to face MNM at Tuesday’s Velocity tapings, but the Maryland Athletic Commission wouldn’t let Axl wrestle due to failing his evaluation. He hasn’t been licensed in Maryland in years, and WWE subbed Danny Dohring and Roadkill, the last ECW Tag Team Champs before the company went out of business, in their place.

Here is the WWE.com preview for Velocity, the final SD-brand show before tomorrow’s Great American Bash PPV (or Sunday Night Heat which will be a pre-show for the PPV):

JULY 22, 2005

With The Great American Bash taking place less than 24 hours later, Velocity will get things started early and in a big way this week!

Christian will be facing Booker T at The Bash, but he better not overlook former Cruiserweight Champion and SmackDown!’s self-proclaimed No. 1 announcer, Funaki. Christian has said that he demands more respect from everyone at SmackDown! A win against Funaki would certainly help back up his case.

Earlier this week The bWo issued a challenge to The Mexicools. Sick and tired of seeing Juventud, Psicosis & Super Crazy interrupting matches, the bWo want to teach The Mexicools a lesson at The Bash. They will have a chance to warm up for their match on Velocity as the trio will be in action.

Last week Frankie Kazarian made his Velocity debut. Kazarian is being dubbed “The future” and after his win over Nunzio last week, he proclaimed that the future is bright. Scotty 2 Hotty will try to prove him wrong this week in one-on-one action.

Plus, the WWE Tag Team Champions will be in action just one day before putting their championships on the line against Road Warrior Animal & Heidenreich. They have the unenviable task of having to face Danny Doring & Roadkill less than 24 hours away from a title defense. Can they keep their momentum going?

Also, velocity will take a look back at the Eddie Guerrero vs. Chris Benoit match from SmackDown! as well as JBL’s victory speech.

Don’t miss all this and more this week on Velocity at 11/10 p.m. CT on Spike TV.
