ROH live report from 7/22/05 in Philadelphia:

1. El Generico over Kevin Steen with a backslide

2.Spanky over Deranged, Nigel McGuinnes and Azriel. Sliced bread #2. Just a fun spot fest.

3.Whitmer and Jacobs over The Carnage Crew to regain the ROH Tag Team Titles. Short match but it felt like forever.

4.The Rottweilers (Homicide, Low Ki and Ricky Reyes over Samoa Joe, Jay Lethal and James Gibson. Homicide hit Gibson with a chain given by yet another Rottweilers goon. Match of the night but a bad finish.

5.Alex Shelly joined the Embassy before the match and his special partner was Fast Eddie. Shelly pinned Aries after Jimmy Rave interfered and hit Aries with a chair shot. AJ Styles hit the ring to make the save and the street fight was on.

6. Jimmy Rave over AJ Styles after Alex Shelly interfered. Both wrestlers were wearing jeans and t-shirts and had taped fists. A very nice brawl with some good spots. Styles busted Rave open the hard way with at least 30 headbutts in a row. This was the third match in a row where the heels went over via cheating all leading up to the main event.

7.CM Punk and Christopher Daniels wrestled to a one hour draw. Crowd hated the decision and it was a total downer. Match dragged a bit and everyone realized they were going to go the distance about halfway through witch kind of made everything leading up to the last 10 minutes meaningless. Daniels fought out of an anaconda vice and then managed to hit his angels wings with about 5 seconds left after Punk tried every pinning combo in the business to put Daniels away. There was a two count and then the bell rang as time expired before he could beat Punk. After the match Punk was confronted by Gibson and Joe. Who knows where this is leading too but I hope it’s not a 4 way.

The night was filled with great wrestling as usual by ROH but all of the heel wins in a row really killed the crowd. I’ve come to expect that sort of nonsense from the WWE but screwy finishes and ref bumps are not what I came to see in ROH for. Overall a fun night of wrestling but I think everyone left the building pissed off.
