WWE(R) Offers New Spanish Language On-Demand Service

STAMFORD, Conn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–July 25, 2005–World Wrestling Entertainment(R) (NYSE: WWE) is now rolling out a suite of Spanish-language wrestling and sports entertainment programming to Cable, Satellite and Telco providers as a Video On Demand (VOD) offering. This new Spanish-language product will be made available on a transactional basis separately from WWE 24/7(TM), the company’s well-received subscription video on demand (SVOD) offering.

“This Spanish rollout is our initial answer to those Cable, Satellite and Telco providers who have told us they are looking for new, compelling non-English transactional content to provide for a growing and specific ethnic consumer base,” said Tom Barreca, Executive Vice President, WWE Enterprises. “WWE is hugely popular with Hispanic viewers, and they are among the most loyal groups of Pay-Per-View and WWE consumer product buyers we’ve identified. As a frequent ratings leader among this valuable demo, we believe WWE can help our distributors attract legions of Hispanic fans to the new platforms like VOD and retain them thereafter.”

At the outset, WWE will provide three to five titles each month — about five to six total hours of programming — that distributors can offer to consumers on a transactional basis. This monthly Spanish-language programming will draw upon a mix of thematic shows, classic matches, insightful biographies, and historic moments created from WWE’s 75,000-hour library, the largest of its kind in the world, featuring the leading wrestling and other sports entertainment brands. WWE currently distributes its programming worldwide in 13 languages across more than 100 countries.

This Spanish programming will clear as-is or may be digitally re-voiced by WWE’s well-known Hispanic on-air personalities, Carlos Cabrera and Hugo Savinovich, who currently do SAP broadcasts of Monday Night RAW(R) (Spike TV, Mondays, 9 p.m. ET), WWE SmackDown!(R) (UPN, Thursdays, 8 p.m. ET), and WWE Pay-Per-View events. The duo also host WWE’s international Spanish-language television programs, and a weekly webcast on WWE.com.
