This one’s personal. That phrase may never have rang more true than it does in the upcoming one on one contest between Edge and Matt Hardy.
Mr. McMahon made the shocking announcement on the Aug. 1 edition of RAW that he had made the “smart business” decision to bring back Matt Hardy, months after he had been released from WWE. Hardy had spent the last few weeks popping up at WWE events and attacking Edge every chance he had. Mr. McMahon said that Hardy had been starting fires all over WWE, and he wanted to pour gasoline on those fires.
On his return to RAW, Hardy set the record straight and said that he had been involved in a 6-year relationship with Lita. While she was married to Kane on TV, Lita was coming home to him. Then, when he was out of action with a serious knee injury, she had an affair with one of his closest friends, Edge. After fans caught wind of what had been going on, they voiced their opinions.
Matt said that maybe he should thank Mr. McMahon for bringing him back, but he thanked the fans instead. It was the fans who chanted “We Want Matt” at Madison Square Garden back in April, and it was those chants that brought him back. He said that Edge had ruined his dreams of having a family and that he almost ruined his dreams of being a WWE Superstar. He said that at SummerSlam, it’s either kill or be killed and Matt Hardy will not die.

Every time these two Superstars have met recently, security and officials have had to separate them. One can only imagine what will happen when it’s only Matt Hardy vs. Edge with no one to separate them.
