[MISC] Matt Hardy and Jamie Noble Pull Out of UK Shows

A recent press release from 1PW discusses Matt Hardy pulling out of the promotion’s October 1 debut event in Doncaster, England. He booked the show before planning to return to WWE, but is now being replaced with AJ Styles, Tommy Dreamer and D-Lo.

1PW has just learned that Matt Hardy will NOT be appearing at our inaugural event to be held on Saturday October 1st at the Dome in Doncaster, England.

Both Matt and his representatives had again assured us as late as ten days ago that he would indeed be appearing and wrestling against ‘The Monster’ Abyss in our main event. Matt personally discussed travel arrangements for the event with 1PW’s Anthony Kingdom James and filmed a pair of short promotional clips for 1PW’s website with our Joe Dombrowski last Friday evening in Pittsburgh, PA.

However, it has since been made clear to us in just the last 72 hours that Matt will NOT be in Doncaster on October 1st. The WWE has told Matt to back out of his agreement with 1PW and, in fact, may have told him to do so as many as three weeks ago.

To our fans, WE APOLOGIZE. The actions of Matt Hardy and the WWE are unfortunate to say the very least, but as the old saying goes… THE SHOW MUST GO ON! 1PW officials have spent the last two days working to not just replace but to IMPROVE our main event and to add even more excitement to the entire show.

With that in mind, it is our pleasure to announce that in our new main event, “THE MONSTER” ABYSS will go one on-one with the 3-time former NWA World Heavyweight champion, “THE PHENOMENAL ONE” AJ STYLES! That’s right, fans, the former World Tag Team championship partners and now bitter enemies will face off against each other for 1PW. Their battles in NWA-TNA have been brutal. Now they’ll bring the fight to the Dome in Doncaster on Saturday October 1st and try to settle their war on English soil.

In addition to AJ Styles, 1PW is pleased to announce that “The Innovator of Violence” TOMMY DREAMER is set to appear at our first big event. Dreamer promises to add an extra touch of „extreme”° to the evening. Will Dreamer get involved in our co-main event match which pits two Hardcore Icons, The SANDMAN and RAVEN, against one another in a “Raven’s Rules” no-disqualification street fight?

And in our final announcement of the day, we are very pleased to tell you that former Intercontinental and NWA World Tag Team champion, D-LO BROWN has signed on with 1PW. Yes, fans, you can “Get Down With The Brown” when D-Lo appears in Doncaster to face off against rising American independent sensation STERLING JAMES KEENAN.

1PW’s inaugural event will proceed as scheduled with a our main event of AJ Styles vs. Abyss, our newly added enforcer D-Lo Brown and our newly added guest Tommy Dreamer and even more to come. We have also decided on a slight change to the name of the show and hope to see each and every one of you at the Dome in Doncaster, England on Saturday October 1st when 1PW deals with “A CRUEL TWIST OF FATE”.

Scheduled to appear:
Main Event – AJ Styles vs. Abyss

Raven’s Rules street fight ˆ Sandman vs. Raven

AWA World Title match ˆ Steve Corino vs. Al Snow

International Tag Challenge ˆ Britain’s Jonny Storm and Jody Fleisch vs. America’s Low-Ki and Chris Sabin

D-Lo Brown vs. Sterling James Keenan

Blue Meanie vs. Tracy Smothers

Doug Williams vs. Austin Aries

Plus: Tommy Dreamer, British cruiserweight action and much, much more…

Also recently released was the following:

The promoters of Universal Uproar would like to apologise to our fans and regretfully inform you that Matt Hardy and James Gibson will no longer be able to appear at Coventry Skydome on Saturday November 12.

Mr Hardy and Mr Gibson have recently informed us of their withdrawal from the show due to their new WWE commitments.

The Universal Uproar team is not the only UK company that has been affected by WWE’s recent signings. Both ourselves and 1PW both feel very let down by Mr Hardy and Mr Gibson’s decision, but understand that with our limited time and resources, taking legal action to enforce our contracts with Mr Hardy and Mr Gibson would only end up being to the detriment of the fans.

Instead we have decided to book suitable replacements for Universal Uproar and focus on making our event even bigger than before.

Instead of just replacing them with two more wrestlers we have decided to replace them with four – and we hope you, the fans, will feel this more than makes up for the loss.

Now signed for Universal Uproar are:

Former WWE Tag Team Champion, Hardcore Champion, Cruiserweight Champion and ECW star SPIKE DUDLEY

Former WWE and WCW star SHANNON MOORE

And top US indie competitors THE AMAZING RED and SONJAY DUTT

In addition, do not forget about the announcement of our HUGE Japanese star signed for Universal Uproar; exclusively in the Daily Star this Saturday (August 13). And we are in talks with at least THREE more stars from both the US and Japan. We hope to add them to the already star-studded line up that now looks like this:

Mick Foley
Spike Dudley
Rhino
AJ Styles
Shannon Moore
Amazing Red
Homicide
Austin Aries
Sonjay Dutt
Doug Williams
Jonny Storm
Colt Cabana
Alex Shane
Jody Fleisch
Spud
Aviv Maayan

The first matches will begin to be announced next week exclusively in the Daily Star.

Tickets are on sale now priced between £85 and £10 and can be bought through the official website www.universaluproar.com

Alternatively you can purchase them form the Coventry Skydome box office by calling 02476 630 693

The Wrestling Expo also takes place on November 12. This will be the single biggest wrestling event of its kind in Europe and takes place in the 3,500 capacity nightclub IKON between noon and 5pm.

Don’t miss your chance to be at the biggest gathering of worldwide independent wrestlers and UK wrestling fans this year.

For more details on the show, Wrestling Expo, Travel, Hotel and sponsorship details go to www.universaluproar.com.

There WILL be Uproar on November 12 – that’s a guarantee!
