[WWE] Bret Hart to be at Summerslam?

Archive

WrestlingObserver.com’s Dave Meltzer is reporting that “At least as of last night, there was no deal for Bret Hart at SummerSlam, nor at least up to yesterday, had he even been approached with a suggestion or idea that he show up at the show.”

Meltz goes on to speculate that it wouldn’t be surprising if Bret was indeed approached by WWE this week. This would make sense particularly after the response his theme music had last night in Montreal.

At the moment, Bret has a scheduled Q&A at the NWA Wrestling Legends Fanfest on Sunday, taking place in Charlotte, NC. The event should end in time for Bret to fly up to Washington, DC, and appear on the show.

That being said, Meltzer reiterates what Bret has said in the past: he’s not interested in playing a character on WWE TV nor in giving any more attention to the Montreal Screwjob.

Editorial comment: Yet, what better way to get public closure to the entire situation than by (a) punking out HBK on the PPV and causing him to lose to Hogan in addition to (b) having final say re: the content of his DVD and (c) wrapping everything up in a neat little package with an induction into the Hall of Fame at Mania? Bret: if you have the opportunity, show up at Summerslam, make your money (and your fans happy), ensure your legacy, and ride off into the sunset. Either that or end up like Warrior. What do you think?
