The Hurt Process – A Heartbeat Behind Review

The Hurt Process

The Inside Pulse:
The Hurt Process is a relatively unknown band, hitting the scene in 2003 with the opus “Drive By Monologue”. A decent debut album, it went relatively unknown. With their new album “A Heartbeat Behind”, The Hurt Process finally hopes to break the mainstream, backed finally by a major label (Universal).

Positives:
If you’re a fan of emo, metal, or hardcore, this album is for you. It’s a beautiful mixture of all three, blended very easily.

There’s probably about 7-8 very good tracks that are easy to get into, with only a few that could take a few more listens to really get into.

Negatives:
Fans of either emo or metal or hardcore may hate this record. That is if you are very stuck in the genre you listen to.

The tracks may seem to get old after a while if you really don’t get into them. The harmonizing between the singing and the screaming is cool for a few tracks, but it definitely dominates the album.

Cross-breed:
If you threw Far into a moshpit with Tony Parsons of Iron Maiden and Benjamin Perri from From Autumn To Ashes, you would easily have The Hurt Process.

Reason to buy:
If you’re into stretching beyond what you enjoy listening to, give this disc a listen. It’s at least interesting to see how many different genre’s can come out of one band.
