TNA At Ringside: My Job Is On The Line

Columns

Welcome back to ringside everyone. Time Warner Cable put me in a bad mood on Sunday by not letting me rent TNA Sacrifice and doing the report. Quick explanation, channel 601 is the Wrestling PPV channel and I could not rent anything off that channel on Sunday Night. I could rent stuff off of other channels (but I didn’t want to see Boogeyman on 602) but not 601. So I called TWC and they said “TNA Sacrifice is not on our schedule.” Well damnit it was on my TV Guide and I wanted to rent it. So after some bickering they couldn’t do anything about it so I just hung up. Thanks Double M for the cover, I know it must have been tough to wacth AJ vs. Joe live.

Sacrifice Recap

I am still here with the quick recap though because I did watch the show on Torrent DVD.

*Chris Sabin, Sonjay Dutt, & Shark Boy defeat Simon Diamond, David Young, & Elix Skipper: Decent match but I really wish they would do something better with Skipper. He needs a full-blown heel turn not a “Team with heels to make a heel” turn.
*Alex Shelly defeats Shocker: Bad ending aside, I got what I expected. I hope this little spat goes no further. What happened to Shelley/Bentley vs. AMW? I had such high hopes for that feud.
*Abyss defeats Lance Hoyt: I told you it would be a good match and it was. They didn’t have high expectations coming in but the match left everyone happy. Hoyt lost no heat as it took two Black Hole Slams to beat him.
*3 Live Kru defeat Kip James & Monty Brown: So is BG turning or not? As of Sacrifice, No. So I spent 5 Months waiting for The New Age Outlaws to re-unite and I either have to wait longer or it’s not going to happen. SHANANIGANS!
*Christopher Daniels defeats Austin Aries: I liked what I saw out of Aries in this one. Maybe TNA should snatch him up before WWE ruins him. Daniels was Daniels and that’s not a bad thing.
*Jerry Lynn defeats Sean Waltman: Good match between the two as Waltman continues to impress me. I’m not sure I liked Waltman attacking Lynn after the match because that means it might not be over and it needs to be.
*Team Canada defeats The Naturals & America’s Most Wanted: TNA really needs to spice up the tag division. It’s till better than WWE’s tag division because the ½ of the champs aren’t losing to Buff Bagwell 2K5, but they need a new team to add to it.
*Samoa Joe defeats AJ Styles: I told you this match would rule.
*Jeff Jarrett & Rhino defeat Sabu & Raven: At least Rhino got the pin and not Jarrett. A good brawl and that’s what it was supposed to be.

Is My Job On The Line?

So Jeff Jarrett is going around claiming, “Come October, everyone’s job is on the line.” People have said that this little storyline has made TNA look “minor leagueish.” Somebody explain that concept to me. I personally think it is a very good storyline. It shows that come October, you better step your game up or be fired. TNA could further this storyline by hiring some more Ex-WWE talent. Charlie Haas could come in and Jarrett could go around saying “You see? If one is hired, one must be fired. Haas is just the first, there are more to come. Everyone better step it up a notch or I’ll see you Sunday at 7.” Which would of course imply Heat.

The tough part might be ending this storyline. The perfect way to end it is have AJ Styles come out and tell Jarrett what the Montreal Crowd told Shawn Michaels: “Shut The Fuck Up!” Then they have at it in a Loser Leaves TNA Match and AJ wins. Ok, so I’m dreaming. The other way to end it is to actually fire some workers. Get rid of Phi Delta Slam, Gowan, Fairplay, and David Young. Yes, they are all on the roster. Holy shit, you can listen to wrestlers themes on the TNA Roster Page. YOU ARE YOU ARE I AM I AM! That’s pretty cool.

Back on subject though. TNA doesn’t have to end this right away. Hell, they’ve drug out the James Saga for half a year now. They can drag out the Jarrett Saga.

Sacrifice Fallout

Boy was I shocked when Jarrett didn’t pin Raven at the PPV. TNA is giving Rhino a shot at the title now and it would seem as if he or Raven will walk into SpikeTV with the World Title. Digging deeper in my brain, I find this to be a good idea. Where could you see Rhino in the later stages of his WWE career? The B-Shows (No, not Smackdown.) So when people flip the channels on Saturday Night and see Rhino with the World Title they might say “I remember this guy, he’s World Champ now? Glad to see somebody is giving him a shot” or “This guy is a jobber, why is he the World Champ?” Then again, you’ll get that with any Federation Cast Off. If AJ Styles or Christopher Daniels is World Champion, people will say “Who is this guy? I HAVE NO DESIRE TO TALK TO DONOVAN!” I’m of course talking about the marks that don’t have Internet access and don’t read this column every week, you guys are cool. Just keep the belt off Jarrett until at least the New Year and I’ll be happy.

Ok, If TNA doesn’t pull the trigger on The New Age Outlaws either at or before Bound For Glory, somebody pull the trigger on me. Don’t take that serious. I am serious on not wanting to see this teased tension between 3LK and Kip egging them on. Sure 3LK hugged when they won, that doesn’t mean much to me. This is wrestling, were anyone can turn at anytime. Michaels shockingly turned Hogan about a month ago. Austin shockingly turned on the fans at WrestleMania 17. The biggest babyface can turn into the biggest heel with the right move. Turn BG, re-unite The Outlaws, give a fresh face to the TNA Tag Division, and give a familiar face to the Wrestling Tag Division.

What else happened at Sacrifice? Oh yeah, Styles and Joe rocked the building. I told you it would rule and it did. That’s all I have to say about that match. If you haven’t seen it, go check it out now.

Kazarian/Bentley

So Kazarian is out of WWE and Bentley may be out of TNA. Honestly, a switch would do both men good. Kazarian did nothing in WWE. He could come back to TNA and return to the X Division where he was a former champion. As for Bentley, he’s related to somebody that has some major pull backstage. That always helps. I would call it a fair trade and a good career move for both men.

I would of course love to see Kazarian and Bentley re-united and add some X Division to the tag team division but it doesn’t seem as if TNA and Bentley are going to stay together.

The C-Cup

Yeah, nobody would admit to liking Hockey. I don’t blame you. I blame Canada.

*Who Should be The Champ? Tell me who the World Champion should be going into SpikeTV for TNA. Back it up with a good reason too.
