[TNA] Interview with Dixie Carter

News

During a Q&A Session at WrestleReumion, the former Bubba Ray Dudley said that TNA is like “the new ECW.” He stated that he sees the same type of drive and work ethic that the workers in ECW had. He said the wrestlers are trying to build and create something that can be their own, much like ECW workers.

TNAWrestling.com has an interview up with company President Dixie Carter discussing the company’s past, present, and future:

*Carter noted that all the doom and gloom talk that the company was going down in the past never bothered her as they always had a set business plan, which was to get a national TV clearance.

*She confirmed they would be in the old WWE Velocity slot at 11 PM Saturdays. She said that TNA wasn’t a good fit for Panda Energy’s business portfolio but her father Bob Carter saw the potential for the business side of the wrestling industry and put him over as an entrepreneur.

*She said that wrestling is like the entertainment industry in that, “The goal is to make the emotions of the consumer so strong that they integrate them and your product into their lives. It’s interesting that most music artists or actors want to be athletes and athletes want to sing or act. Wrestlers have to be both.”

*She said that during the point they were off the Fox Sports Network, the company was quiet because they didn’t want to mess with negotiations that were ongoing.

*She said that they are looking towards new talent but the priority is to keep pushing those who have remained loyal to the company in the past. She put over Matt Hardy for being upfront with his dealings with her before deciding to go back to WWE. I know quite a few people in TNA feel the exact opposite.

*She said that creative is basically a work in progress and that they have added and taken away members of the team as time has gone on.

*She noted that they have made mistakes in the past but dismissed it as something no worse then any other business does.

*She put over Bound for Glory as the biggest event in the company’s history.

At this past weekend’s WrestleReunion, Jeremy Borash had informal meetings with talent that he would like to bring to TNA down the line.

According to TNA officials, Nora Greenwald (Molly Holly) is not negotiating with TNA at this time.
