SpikeTV Begins Promoting Debut Of “iMPACT!”
August 29th, 2005 20:57

On Monday night during WWE’s “RAW” program, SpikeTV aired the first commercial promoting TNA’s upcoming debut on the cable network on Saturday, October 1 at 11PM ET.

The commercial is the first of a series of promotional spots planned by SpikeTV during RAW to introduce fans to TNA’s brand of Total Nonstop Action.

TNAwrestling.com will post more news in the upcoming weeks on the anticipated SpikeTV debut of the adrenaline-filled “iMPACT” program!

– According to Dave Scherer at PWInsider.com, WWE wasn’t happy about the commercials, although they were likely told beforehand and of course understood why they did it. He is reporting that one of his sources told him that the Matt Hardy vs. Edge match was booked in response to the ads; additionally, some wrestlers were optimistic that TNA on Spike will make competition more likely, which is good for the business overall.

– PWInsider has posted that WWE filed the trademark application for The Dudley Boyz name on October 28, 2003, and it was registered without incident on September 28, 2004, claiming a date of first use of October 17, 1999. The Dudley Boyz, who debuted for the WWF on August 30, 1999, have recently been told they cannot use that name while not under WWE contract. ECW’s bankruptsy proceedings likely delayed WWE’s trademark application.
