[MISC] News on ROH, The Rock, Smackdown Early Ratings

Archive

– Today’s Calgary Sun has a story on Ring of Honor, featuring an interview with Gabe Sapolsky who said: “I compare it (ROH) to Broadway. WWE and TNA are like TV stations that throw a million shows on the air and hope some of them are hits. ROH is like Broadway, where the actors and, in our case, wrestlers, come to perform their art in its purest form.” The story also talks about ROH’s upcoming debut on Canadian TV via The Fight Network.

– The Rock was one of the people taking calls at last night’s big TV telethon for Hurricane Katrina victims. You can see a photo here.

– Last night’s Smackdown scored a 2.9 fast national rating according to Nielsen Media Research, which is pretty close to its usual numbers. This is being reported online as good news for WWE, particularly since it was its first day on the new night, had several preemptions and was only an hour long. We’ll have full ratings up when they’re available.
