One thing about this current arc of Ultimate Spider-Man; There are LOTS of players involved. One side of the conflict you have the embattled crime lord of New York City Wilson Fisk AKA The Kingpin and his top assassin Elektra. On another side you’ve got a bloodthirsty mutant gangster named Hammerhead who’s hired the Enforcers to do his dirty work. Standing in the path of this new would-be crime lord however are Danny “Iron Fist” Rand and Shang-Chi the Master of Kung Fu along with our hero Spider-Man. Meanwhile lurking in the background is the mysterious Moon Knight. Our latest issue of Ultimate Spidey introduces another player in this saga, the Booty-tastic Black Cat.

You know Black Cat has traditionally been one of the uh… biggest heroines in the Marvel Universe, and her Ultimate counterpart er… bounces to new heights. Yes Mark Bagley has taken particular care in providing the proper eh… details to Felicia Hardy’s figure.

I mean holy crap there’s a few panels that make me thing I’m reading a Frank Cho book. Uh give me a moment to reexamine those pages just to make sure.

Whoa

Anyway the plot of this issue pretty much serves to reintroduce Felicia while reestablishing her as a romantic interest for Peter. Meanwhile there are a few soap operatic elements back at home for our hero, and a little development regarding Moon Knight and Kingpin’s plans.

There’s some nice storytelling going on, and this issue serves as a pretty nice break from the action of last issue but scenes regarding Aunt May along with Peter’s school life have something of a been there done that feel to them.

Still it’s very, very nice to see Felicia’s… ample presence again in this title.
