Toronto – SONY BMG MUSIC (Canada) Inc. is proud to announce the signing of Canadian Idol runner-up Rex Goudie. Rex, a Newfoundland native, made the East Coast proud and captured the hearts of millions of Canadians from coast-to coast during the third season of “Canadian Idol” on CTV. This year’s vote was the closest ever in Canadian Idol history, due largely to Rex’s unassuming charm and commanding performances.

Lisa Zbitnew, President, SONY BMG MUSIC CANADA Inc. said, “As soon as Rex hit the stage, it was clear he was a star. We are very excited to work with such a talented and charismatic vocalist on his debut album.”

Rex’s mission for the Canadian Idol competition was to represent Newfoundland “the way she deserved: with guts and glory.” His performances were filled with soul and emotion and compelled fans to devote quite a following to the raspy-voiced rocker.

After a well deserved break at home, Rex will return to Toronto to write and record his debut album, expected mid-December 2005.
