This first storyline of JSA: Classified has sparked a lot of talk ever since it started. Some people have been looking forward to learning Power Girl’s true origin, as de-mystified by Geoff Johns, the master of fixing the seemingly unfixable. Other people don’t understand why anyone is bothering to tell the origin story of a character that “nobody” cares about. Well, I’m a member of the first group. And after seeing what Johns was able to do with Hawkman, I have all the faith in the world that he can pull this off. Well, not only does it look like he’ll pull it off, but it looks like it’ll be tied into all the buildup to Infinite Crisis as well, what with the addition of the Psycho Pirate to the plot.

In this issue, Power Girl chases down the Huntress, of all people, for some “girl talk” in between fighting the Brotherhood of Evil. Meanwhile, the Psycho Pirate works his “magic” on a few of the JSA, before we once again go back to Power Girl having what people say are hallucinations…but seem increasingly real.

I’m enjoying both the plot and the art, so kudos to everyone involved. I’m glad Power Girl is being given the spotlight because I like reading about the lesser-known characters, as well as the lesser-cared-about. The combination of the great writing and art, the cliffhanger, and my natural intrigue over the heroine means that I’m eagerly anticipating the final chapter of this story next month.
