The Sunday HEAT Wave.com

Archive

It’s the new era of The Sunday Heat Wave as we put a little razzle dazzle on it and add the .com to the end of it. The only thing you’ll see different from this version is that we probably won’t be getting any of the backstage banter or the RAW highlights we’re used to taking up 70% of the show. But hey we still get those fifteen minutes worth of matches, so it’s all good right? So for now, I’m still gonna be trying to cover HEAT as much as possible now that it’s on wwe.com. Anyway, short review today as there’s a lot of football going on this weekend.

Hosts: Todd Grisham & The Coach

Tajiri vs. Tomko
Good to see that we still got the HEAT announcers around, I was starting to worry about Grisham’s job security there for a while. Anyway, Tajiri makes sure he uses his quickness to duck and avoid Tyson’s attacks, getting in a few shots and tries to work on Tomko’s leg, getting shot down every time. Finally a huge slam shifts momentum drastically as Tomko began to beat down on Tajiri using a modified back breaker that only gets 2! More beat down continues on poor Tajiri until the Japanese buzz saw hits a hard back kick which only gets 2 too! Tajiri gets a second wind and starts using the fast kicks to work on Tomko’s left leg once more. Springs of the ropes but is whaled with a big boot to the back of the head and the rest is academic.
Winner: Tomko

Parisi vs. Matt Striker
I wonder how hard it is for these guys to wrestle knowing HEAT is only being shown on the web now? Lots of back and forth stuff to begin the match followed by a few lock ups and pins that only get the typical 2 counts. Parisi finally gets some kind of advantage in this match locking Striker up in the near corner and hitting him down also working on the left leg. What is this, pick on the left leg show? Striker does a good job selling the leg injury through the majority of this match as Parisi sees an open opportunity to ram Matt in the corner but is tripped up and goes head first into the turnbuckle. Then to top things off misses two consecutive elbow drops that gives Striker a roll-up opportunity that only gets 2! Backslide gets 2! School boy for 2! Starting to see a pattern? Well Parisi does as he jumps back up calling that he’s had enough, picking up Parisi for the finisher but is reversed into another pin for Matt that finally gives him the 3 count!
Winner: Matt Striker

Matt Hardy vs. Heat Jobber
Wow, Matt actually gets his very own Jobber and remember the rule… no entrance, no win! And so far my rule looks to be holding as Matt fumbles around for a bit before taking the lead in this match up. Roll up for Hardy gets 2 followed for a quick standoff that Matt loses as he gets kicked in the gut followed by another roll up for the jobber this time for 2! But Matt slams the jobber from corner to corner thus starting the squash for the night. Twist of fate ends the match that probably may be Matt’s last in the RAW brand after tomorrow night.
Winner: Matt Hardy

The main EVENT: The Heartthrobs vs. The Hurricane & Rosey
And to my surprise they DO have a quick Raw recap from last Monday’s main event tag team match, but just a ‘quick’ one. Rosey and Romeo start of the match as this half of HT tries to put Rosey in a lock up but to no ones surprise easily fights out of it and even starts to pick on the other member completely cleaning out house. But after refusing to tag in Hurricane things start to go down hill for the former tag champs as Antonio takes the lead. Lots of double team from HT to slow down the big man, working on his legs as Romeo gets tagged in to nail a double leg sweep for 2! More double team moves continue to dominate the match as Antonio locks up Rosey in a head lock. Fighting out of it, Rosey finally hits the tag and the well rested Hurricane begins to take his turn. Flying cross body drop from the top rope nails Antonio and is hit by his own partner while trying to break up the pin. But outside interference from the fallen Romeo diverts the potential win as Antonio rolls up Hurricane and gets the 3 with help from the ropes.
Winners: The Heartthrobs

Heat Wave of the Night
Well how did the first show of the .com era of Heat rank up? So-so, nothing to exciting especially since my computer started to run the video feed slow near the end for some odd reason, but nothing to embarrassing either. I’m actually hoping this picks up some attention as I see having shows on the internet for wrestling will actually help the product in the long run. So make sure you check HEAT out along with Velocity with Mark Neeley’s re-cap (who’s been doing a great job, even putting out THREE recaps this week with “Raw’s Top Ten” and “The NeelDown Impact Zone”) as a reading guide to the show. Till then, I’m done for the night and DON’T forget to make sure you catch my brand new Raw Re-cap column The RAW Events this week. Peace!
