[RAW] News on Jim Ross/Mike Goldberg Raw Lead Announcer Situation

Archive

In a followup to an earlier story posted here, WrestlingObserver.com’s Dave Meltzer is reporting that current UFC lead announcer Mike Goldberg will likely replace Jim Ross as the lead announcer for WWE Monday Night Raw. This change could potentially take place within the next two weeks with Goldberg leading a three man booth with Jonathan Coachman and Jerry Lawler and Jim Ross taking over announcing duties for WWE.com webcasts. Goldberg is seen as a legitimate sports announcer, however he has little to no knowledge of pro wrestling. Goldberg could also be faced with potential problems down the road of finding another job in the sports world after being marked as a “pro wrestling announcer.” Goldberg has reportedly informed the UFC that he is close to a decision and is said to be leaving on very good terms. Additionally, during Canada’s broadcast of Smackdown, Vince McMahon saying “someone’s gonna get fired” was hyped for this coming Monday’s RAW. Stay tuned to Inside Pulse for more details on this breaking news story.
