Non stop Jedi versus Sith action in post Revenge of the Sith one-shot Star Wars: Purge

After Order 66, few Jedi dare to venture outside the shadows—rumors of the dark and terrible Darth Vader haunting even their waking moments. Yet, some Jedi find this life of fear unbearable. Now, a small band of Jedi have agreed to meet and discuss what should be done to oppose the Empire and its Sith Lords. However, the Empire is always watching, and Vader himself is eager to confront any Jedi that might bring him closer to the whereabouts of his betrayer, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

“Purge features a raw Darth Vader. It hasn’t been that long since he’s put on the armor and there’s still something of Anakin Skywalker in there, something of his rage,” commented writer John Ostrander. “He isn’t as proficient with this armor or his powers as he will become—and he’s up against Jedi who can see him coming. To survive—to win—Vader must purge himself of the man he was to become the dark legend he is destined to be. Assume nothing.”

Star Wars: Purge features the talents of John Ostrander, Doug Wheatley and Chris Chuckry. It arrives on sale December 28 with a retail price of $2.99.

Joss Whedon’s smash hit comic series
Serentiy collected for first time!

—”Mission accomplished. Whedon and writer Brett Matthews turn in an exciting action-packed script with plenty of Whedon-esque character interaction. Serenity captures all of the magic of Firefly without missing a beat.” (Chud.com)

Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and scribe of Marvel’s Astonishing X-Men, unveils a previously unknown chapter in the lives of his favorite band of space brigands in this comics prequel of the Serenity feature film—the big-budget follow-up to Whedon’s cult-hit TV show Firefly.

Penned by Whedon and Brett Matthews, who wrote several episodes of Firefly as well as Dark Horse’s final Angel comics series and the animated Chronicles of Riddick feature “Dark Fury,” Serenity follows a ship full of mercenaries, fugitives, and one law-abiding prostitute in their pursuit for fast cash and a little peace along the fringes of space. The ragtag crew of Serenity take on a scavenger mission with the hopes of earning enough dough to disappear for a while. Only too late do they realize the whole gig is orchestrated by an old enemy eager to remake their acquaintance with the help of some covert-operatives known only as the Blue Gloves.

Artist Will Conrad (Marvel’s Elektra and Witches) and colorist Laura Martin (Astonishing X-Men and The Ultimates) paint a rough and wild world of adventure across a strange and dangerous universe, in this not-to-be-missed tale straight from the brain of pop-culture mastermind Joss Whedon!

Look for the Serenity DVD release in spring 2006!

The Goon’s Eric Powell tells a twisted tale of circus freaks in the Billy the Kid’s Old Timey Oddities trade collection

From the Eisner award-winning creator of The Goon comes an over-the-bigtop horror romp pitting outlaw legend Billy the Kid and a band of circus “freaks” against the evil machinations of the nefarious Dr. Frankenstein!

Penned with deranged glee by Powell and illustrated by fan-favorite horror artist Kyle Hotz (The Agency and The Hood), Billy The Kid’s Old Timey Oddities starts with Billy the Kid free to roam America, having faked his own death. Free, that is, until Fineas Spoule, a.k.a. The Human Spider, discovers his secret. Now, afraid of being exposed, Billy finds himself in the service of a caravan of carnival sideshow performers who have unfinished business with a mad scientist none other than Victor Frankenstein himself!

This twisted love child of spaghetti westerns and Hammer horror flicks combines Powell’s humorous fast-paced storytelling and Hotz’s quirky macabre visuals for a story that the whole family will love…if they’re the kind of family that love alligator men and miniature boys fighting monstrous mistakes of science with the help of the fastest gunslinger in the West!
