The Inside Pulse:
While some bands try to diversify their style, Ten Thousand Fists takes different elements from Disturbed’s past albums to create an enjoyable blend of heart-pounding beats with deep and meaningful lyrics. Disturbed has not changed much over the years, sticking to what they know, but if it isn’t broke then there is no reason to fix it. While they might get old at some point, it has not happened quite yet. While still not above The Sickness in terms of overall enjoyment, Ten Thousand Fists is their second best CD to date.

Positives:
“I’m Alive” summarizes best the direction Disturbed is going with Ten Thousand Fists. The lyrics themselves are angry and determined, but the music and tone are softer and less Metal (instead of the screaming agony that Disturbed used in such songs as “Conflict” or “Fear”). Many of the songs on Ten Thousand Fists follow along these same lines, with “Diefy” making a strong impression as well. As a Phil Collins fan I enjoyed “Land of Confusion,” and there isn’t a bad track on the entire CD.

Negatives:
While a few of the tracks stand out, many of the latter tracks blend into one big song and there is little distinction between one and another. Variety was never Disturbed’s strong suit, and it shows on Ten Thousand Fists. If you never liked Disturbed before, there is nothing really new here to attact new fans.

Cross-Breed:
The bastard child of The Sickness and Believe, with the strong lyrics of The Sickness mixed with the music and flow of Believe.

Reason To Buy:
If you like Disturbed, then you will enjoy Ten Thousand Fists. As usual, Disturbed brings lyrics that will make you think and music that will keep the songs in your head for many days.
