[WWE] The Rock on Letterman

Archive

The Rock was on CBS’ Late Show with David Letterman tonight to promote his upcoming film Doom.

Dave introduced him as The Rock, and asked him about his sports background, to which Rock said he played football for 10 years, wrestled for about 6.5. He’s lucky to have the career he has now, and just shot two movies back to back after Doom wrapped.

They talked about this weekend’s Notre Dame/USC game, then Dave asked The Rock about his favorite games at Miami. Rock mentions the bench-clearing brawl vs. San Diego State when he went after the mascot into the stands. He got in trouble, but “phone call from mom” was the most trouble. They showed a clip.

Dave asked if he and his teammates (Warren Sapp and Ray Lewis, etc.) went to class, Rock said he was academic team captain with a 1.5.

They showed a picture of Sarah Michelle Gellar and (a relatively skinny) The Rock during a make-out scene in Southland Tales, and talked about how Sarah plays his girlfriend in the movie and Mandy Moore his wife, and how Rock’s wife found out about it reading the tabloids. “It’s tough to be The Rock,” says Mr. Johnson. Indeed.

They play a clip of Doom and plug the movie, which opens Friday.

According to IMDB.com, The Rock’s upcoming films include:

Doom (2005)
