[OVW] OVW TV Taping Results for October 22, 2005 (Spoilers)

TV taping results for Ohio Valley Wrestling, according to Eric Hall:

OVW returned to the New Davis Arena in Louisville last night, and you can see OVW has gotten hot. A turnaway crowd, with people lined up around the building in the middle of the afternoon. Used to be, people didn’t show up until 5 o’clock or so. The show continued to build momentum for what I’d call the biggest show in OVW history, next Wednesday night’s TV Taping when OVW Champ Johnny Jeter finally puts his title on the line against his ex-tag team partner, Matt Cappotelli. The breakup of The Thrillseekers, which has been the main focus of Paul Heyman’s excellent booking since he took over the job in the summer, was the subject of a 10 minute package that was shown to the fans last night, as both Jeter and Cappotelli offered their thoughts on each other, on OVW, on the Thrillseekers tag team, and on what next week’s title match will be like. Jeter’s promos were actually better than Cappotelli’s, as Jeter admitted he feared Cappotelli and what Cappotelli might do. Jeter also said he wanted to prove to everyone, even himself, that he was better than Cappotelli.

In a huge announcement at the end of the night, another title match will take place next week, as Ken Doane will defend the OVW Television Title against Bobby Lashley. This was set up when Lashley squashed Dean “The Cooler” Visk in a match similar to the Lashley vs Boogeyman match, and then Doane attacked Lashley, but Lashley turned the tables on Doane. This will be an interesting match.

The Chris Cage vs Aron “The Idol” Stevens feud continued as Cage pinned Jamie Noble, who came to ringside with Stevens and Beth Phoenix and Shelly. The story here was that Noble was being paid off by Stevens, but not with money. The Idol was paying off Noble with Shelly. But in the end, Cage, hurt neck and all, prevailed against Noble in an excellent 15 minute match.

Brent Albright and Elijah Burke defeated Doug Basham, Mo Green, and CM Punk in a 2 vs 3 match when Burke pinned Mo Green. Basham attacked Elijah after the match. Basham is doing a gimmick best described as MNM Lite. Punk and Albright seem to be headed into a feud. There was a promo segment to lead into the match, and they broke into a fight.

Mark Henry returned to action, and put a pretty severe belt whipping on local Robert Fury, who was in a match with Rene Dupree. When Dupree saw Henry come out, he ran out of the ring and left Fury to take the beating. It was pretty vicious, with Henry really laying in the belt shots.

There was a match between the former OVW Tag Team Champions Tank and Chad Tolland against the new champions Seth Skyfire and Chet The Jett. This happened early, before Dean Hill and Al “Head” Snow opened the tv show, so it may have been a dark match. All 4 wrestled in street clothes. Very good tag team match. The Tollands are great.

In another dark match, Romeo Rosselli from the Heart Throbs defeated Nick Nemeth, complete in his golf sweater outfit.

This show obviously builds up to next week’s huge TV Tapings, with Bobby Lashley challenging Ken Doane for the OVW TV Title, and Matt Cappotelli’s return to the ring against Johnny Jeter for the OVW Heavyweight Championship. That takes place next Wednesday Night at the New Davis Arena in Louisville, Kentucky.
