The NeelDown iMPACT Zone

Archive

Last week we were really hoping that the Penguins would earn their first win of the season and break their streak of being the only winless NHL team and stop being t he league’s laughing stock. We lost every game including tonight against the Bruins 6-3.

– By the way, after you’re done reading this report, head on over to InsidePulse’s music section and check out Shawn Smith’s latest column, because not only is it a good read but Pearl Jam + Led Zepp frontman + hurricane fund = great.

The iMAIL Zone

Mark:

The funeral was indeed a fantastic promo (just goes to show why I’ve loved Jim Mitchell since WCW). But how could you not mention the visitation book? That may have been the best part of the whole promo. Talk about a cold shot. “Kevin Dunn”? “Paul H.”? “Vince and Linda”? “Paul and Stephanie”? I had to pause that and check it out. When I did, I came to think that this was a far better kick in the nuts than what Linda did on Monday. Just shows that TNA is getting a lot better at hiding the knocks to the competition than they were a few weeks ago.

Eric

Thanks for the letter Eric. Yes folks, this is Eric Szulczewski. It’s an honor to have him in The iMPACT Zone this week. To answer the question, I must have been typing the report since I was doing it live last week and must have missed most of the visitation book part of the promo doing so, however I have heard so many great things about the part that I really wish I wouldn’t have.

Mark,

I’ve loved The NeelDown iMPACT Zone ever since the first edition of the SpikeTV debut. I also like to enjoy Jeremy Lambert’s live coverage report so I can witness the show in your opinionated report and Lambert’s down to Earth report, which is cool. Reminds me of how I used to read Scott Keith’s SmarK Raw Rant and Raven West’s official RAW report. Thanks, and keep the good work!

A word of advice: Read Zarur’s RAW Events along with Raven’s report now. Anyway, thanks for the comparison and praise.

Arm wrench by Joe and he sends him to the corner for a splash followed by facewash stomps. Running stomp by Joe. Skipper gets out of the pin with a bridge and hits a snapmare takeodown and stiff kick to spine for 1. Springboard top rope moonsault by Skipper. Skipper comes off the ropes but runs into Samoa’s powerslam whicxh gets 2. Joe takes him to the corner and tries the Muscle buster but Skipper fights out of it, but a second time the Muscle Buster hits followed by the K. Clutch for the win and the undefeated streak continues. Not like Primetime had a chance to break it though, really.
Winner: Samoa Joe
*1/4, did that HAVE to be Samoa’s SpikeTV debut?

Break.

Winners and NEW NWA Tag Team Champions: America’s Most Wanted
**, and I can’t say I really didn’t expect it after Jarrett won back the title that they would pull a Evolution type deal where the heels had most of the titles.

Break.

– Ultimate X promo.

Bobby Roode (w/ Coach D’Amore) v. Ron Killings (w/ BG James)
Predict some interference? I do. But hey, at least Konan isn’t here to ask where his dawgz at to no crowd reaction. BG introduces Ron instead. Roode catches Killings with a kick to start and addes punches and a sideheadlock. Killings quickly takes it to the ropes and shoots him off but Roode gets a shoulder. Killings knocks him down with a shoulder and leapfrogs Roode, then hits a pair of hip toss and takeover armdrag. Killings clothselines him to the outside barricade. D’Amore calls Killingd a bastard starting a USA chant. Killings does a flipping plancha to the outside onto Roode. Killings goes to the top rope afte rolling Roode in, but Roode gets up and crouches him the knocks him off the turnbuckle. Powerbomb by Roode and then he hits the 2nd rope knee drop for 2. Roode reveres a whip and hits criss cross whips and knees. Back suples by Roode and Kip James walks out to the announcer table. Konan is showed watching the monister backstage. Kip and BG talk at ringside. In the ring, Killings hits a Missile Dropkick. Konan now arguing with Kip at ringside. Flying forearm by Killings inside, and then outside BG, Konan, and Kip start to brawl until security break it up. Back in the ring Killings sets up the Scissor Kick but A1 interupts and gets dumped, allowing D’Amore to slip Roode in a hockey stick in which Roode nails Killings with for the win.
Winner: Bobby Roode
*1/4, well I predicted the interference part right, but that was overkill.

– In the back, Monty Brown talks to Jeff Jarrett about him wanting a title shot with Shane Douglas.

Break.

– 2nd Main Event
Monty Brown, Abyss, & Jeff Jarrett v. Jeff Hardy, Lance Hoyt, & AJ Styles
Hoyt seriously looks like a giant standing next to AJ. He stats with Abyss, and fires away. Hoty ducks to clothselines from Abyss and hits a diving shoulder. Hoyt works over the arm and tags Hardy in who slugs away but runs into Jarrett’s cheap elbow. Brown tagged in who chokes Hardy until Hardy fires on him and hits the crappy clothseline. Brown thankfully no sells it and hits the belly to belly suplex proceeding to tagging in Jarrett. JJ sends Hardy to the ropes and nails a dropkick. JJ tags in Abyss who easily takes Hardy down then hits a scoop slam. Hardy rolls out from the leg drop and tagged in Styles who takes out Brown on the apron and a dropkick on Abyss. Pelay kick on Jarrett. Hardy springs out onto Brown, Styles springs out onto Jarrett, Hoty springs out onto Abyss. Main event advertisements. What a drag. Back and Styles starts the 10 punch on Jarrett in the corner. Abyss tries the Black Hole Slam on Styles but he counters it into a tornado DDT. Abyss throws Styles into Brown on the apron. Styles tries the Styles clash on Abyss, Jarrett stops it, Jarrett goes for the Stroke on Styles, Styles blocks it and takes AJ down with a clothseline. Jarett sets him up in the ropes and hits him with the knee. Monty in now and he throws Styles into the turnbuckle then gets a high kick. Brown tosses Styles into the turnbuckle again and takes him down with shuffling punches. Abyss tagged in who knocks Styles down. Abyss with the BIG slaps in the corner and sends Styles to the corner, then nails the big splash. Jarrett back in, but gets pummeled on by Styles. Styles ducks a clothseline and they collide with crossbodys. Styles gets avught by Abyss and Monty, but he is able to tag Hardy from utop their shoulders. Eeveryoen brawling in the rintg down and Abyss hits Hoyt witht he Black Hole Slam, Hardy breaks up the near pinfall. Hardy nails the Twist Of Fate on Abyss, followed by the Swanton Bomb, Alpha Mail breaks up the pin and hits the overhead slam on Hardy. Hoty knocks Brown down with the big boot but Jarrett saves the pin. Jarrett ducks the big boot and Abyss pulls Hoyt out. Jarrett tries the figure 4 on Styles but Styles hits an enzigiri and sweet suplex. Styles up top but Chris Daniels knocks him off, Jarrett sets up for the Stroke, Brown then hits the ropes and nails Styles with the Stroke for the win. Winners: Jeff Jarrett, Abyss, & Monty Brown
***3/4, really good main event 6-man tag.

– Post match the heels and Jim “best f*cking promo maker ever” Mitchell celebrate and add extra assault, but Sabu and Rhino hit the ring to help them out and make the save.
