“They Asked Me Why I Could Believe In You”

Previously, on Desperate Housewives: Rex is dug out of his grave and Bree is a suspect in a possible murder via poisoning. Gabby’s lawyer is getting a little fresh with her, Susan gets Zach out of town to “find Paul”, and more importantly to get away from Julie; the Applewhites secure their man in the basement, and Paul Young is left in the middle of the desert instead of being murdered by Manslaughter Mike.

Nina has a lot of tension which affects who she conducts her job, so Lynette has the bright idea of taking her out to a bar where Nina lets loose, revealing that she’s shy around members of the opposite sex, as Lynette hooks Nina up with a man at the bar. The next morning, Nina arrives looking very loose and wearing the same clothes from the bar the previous night. Looks like her tension got released the old-fashioned way.

You’re watching Desperate Housewives…?

Everyone needs someone they can depend on, and Susan has Lonny Moon, her book agent. Lonny arrives to tell Susan that he’s starting a new agency by himself and wants Susan to come along, convincing her despite Lonny admitting that he did some embezzling with the agency’s money. As long as it wasn’t Susan’s money.

Gabrielle and Carlos have a visit, and David Bradley arrives to discuss the case but Carlos notices that Gabby is very happy to see David and immediately fires him.

The detectives on Rex’s case are stubborn about releasing the body, so Bree threatens to sue and Detective Barton agrees to release the body over to Bree so arrangements can be made out of the precinct’s wallet for the reburial.

News reports keep popping up about Melanie Foster as Nina wants to go out to the bar again, and despite Lynette having stuff to do she agrees to just one drink with Nina, which of course gets out of hand and turns into multiple drinks.

Ms. Applewhite accidentally gets a package meant for Zach, returning it to the Young’s mailbox which is overflowing with packages and letters. She also got some of Edie’s mail, as the postman apparently had a stroke which made him ineffective. Edie goes to look for some of Betty’s mail, as Betty is left alone to watch the television report of an arrest being made in the Melanie Foster case. She returns home to find Matthew happy that they’re in the clear now.

Bree wants to know if the other Housewives will be there for the reburial, and Edie is being a sore sport, being incredibly negative as Bree is trying to say goodbye for the last time. Unless, of course they dig him up again.

Carlos and Gabrielle attend a group marriage counseling session as Carlos reveals he fired David out of jealousy. Carlos finally opens up in the group session, saying that she cheated on him, as some of the prisoners gasp. Carlos does make a good point about there being plenty of fat bald attorneys available to take his case.

Mike doesn’t think Lonny deserves a second chance, and Susan knows that means if she tells Mike about finding Zach, Mike would never forgive her. Julie knows that Susan did it for her daughter. Across the street, another package arrives for Paul…in an empty mailbox.

Nina is starting to blackmail Lynette into going out drinking with her, despite Nina understanding that family comes first for Lynette. At the bar, it seems to be Lynette’s personal responsibility to get Nina laid.

Betty prepares dinner for her captive Caleb, and wants him to confess to the murder of Melanie Foster. Matthew finds a note written by Betty in regards to arresting the wrong man, and Matthew only hopes that the cops don’t find them because of this letter, because the cops won’t care how slow Caleb is, they’ll just plain execute him. This sends Caleb back into his hole instead of attempting another escape.

Susan meets with Lonny to hand over the contract, but Lonny is forced to tell the truth about stealing money from Susan, so she can’t trust Lonny anymore. Lonny tries to hold onto the contract for dear life, but Susan finally rips it away.

Gabrielle is doing yoga as David arrives, as he’s ready to talk now about Carlos. Gabrielle wants David to convince Carlos he’s not interested in an affair with Gabrielle. David agrees to it, finally, and takes some of Gabrielle’s wine for good measure.

Lonny explains how it all went downhill, and Susan thinks that Lonny should have just come clean in the beginning, but Lonny was on a roll with the lies. Susan vows to still be Lonny’s friend, but he takes that the wrong way and tries to get fresh with Susan, which makes her freak out.

A Chicago officer trackers her partner down to show Betty’s letter as she knows about the axe, and that’s important.

Bree is ready to take Rex’s body away but Detective Barton arrives to finally show Bree Rex’s final letter forgiving Bree for what Rex thinks she did. Bree refuses to break down, however, and has to make some arrangements.

Carlos arrives to talk to Gabrielle and David, as David’s new pitch involves what he’ll do to get in Gabrielle’s pants if Carlos doesn’t hire him. Genius, and it works as he’s hired. Scene of the night.

Lynette is tired of partying with Nina, and decides to get involved herself with the goal of becoming the center of attention so Nina doesn’t want to party. This also works like a charm.

Time for the reburial, as Bree is late and is moving Rex’s grave site. Bree snaps, saying that there was nothing to be forgiven for on her part, and that she was a wonderful wife. So she doesn’t care if Rex decays with strangers instead of Bree being buried next to him.

In the closing montage, all you need to know is that Paul Young is back.
