The Weekly Pulse: TV's Second Wife

Archive

It’s the day after Thanksgiving and I wrote this on a Monday! But I had to! I couldn’t skip a week, eventhough it’s a holiday week! I had to bring you this or I would have gotten fired. Wait..I don’t get paid for this..so who cares if I get fired. But I won’t get fired, because you are reading this now and thus my job is saved for another week.

Is anyone sick of food and football yet? Yeah..me neither! Bring on some more turkey and pigskin!

Don’t you love Thanksgiving? The day we celebrate the killing of Native Americans! Yeah! Oh yeah..I forgot we also “give thanks” for things on this day. That was just made up to turn this day into something nice. I am not saying there is anything wrong with Thanksgiving. I like it. I am just stating facts here. Don’t shoot the messenger.

You know what I love about the holidays as well? Holiday TV time! I will speak more about this later, but you can expect some of your favorite TV shows to not be on in the next month and half. Why? Because it’s holiday season and today is the “official” start of Christmas shopping! By the way, by the time you read this I will be at the mall myself. Pray for me as I hope to walk out alive. But you never know when you have moms and dads fighting over those Easy Bake Ovens and Bratz dolls!

But enough of that. What better way to wake up or maybe to fall asleep after all that turkey than this! Lets take a trip in the “way back” machine. Way back to the start of the week, which is Friday now..if you missed the memo! Lets take a look at the week that was here at Pulse TV!

Seinfeld Quote of the Week

Matt Basilo has no job still, except the job of bringing you fun on Mondays! And he should get paid for that, because that is tough! I should get paid as well, since I have to read EVERYTHING. Anyways..he is back and fully loaded. He has an error in ‘Friends’. He talks about ‘Lost’ and Thursday night and Sunday night shows. And I agree. You don’t leave Rachel. You don’t leave “Summer”! Summer is hot! Summer is good. Summer is the WOMAN!

The Weekly Pulse Weekly Poll

Last week I asked the question…”which major network do you watch the most?”. So here are the results:

NBC! – 0
ABC! – 1
CBS! – 1
FOX! – 2
UPN! – 0
WB! – 0
I watch cable channels more! – 3

Not as many votes..so it’s little hard to decide a winner, but it appears that people are like me and mostly watch cable channels more than the major networks. But if they had to chose..they would chose FOX over the others. I can see that.

Non onto this week’s question. It continues the holiday theme. In fact, it has to do with special holiday episodes of your favorite TV shows. The question is..”how do you feel about holiday episodes of your favorite TV shows?” Simple enough. Do you hate them, love them, or just don’t care? Let me know. Click on the link and VOTE NOW!

Time to Talk a.k.a. A Very Special Episode of Your Favorite Show

It’s that time of year again. It’s a time where some of your favorite shows will be off-air for a week or two. Why? Because it’s time for Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Year’s Day and all of that. Networks may decide to not air a show during one of those weeks, since they believe people will be out celebrating with their family and not watching TV. That is a good assumption, but may not always be true. Oh well..they make the big bucks and they do what they want. So no ‘O.C’ for me this week. Good thing, because I will be out of town. Actually, I am out of town right now, because you will be reading this on a Friday.

But you get something else around this time of year. When your favorite show actually does air..you will more than likely see a special “holiday” episode of your favorite TV show! What does that mean? Well it means you have Thanksgiving and Christmas theme shows. If you were watching ‘The O.C.’, you would get a Chrismukkah episode of that show. Sometimes they throw in a New Year’s Eve episode as well.

The question is do you like these episodes or not. I think they are great. Everyone knows that holiday time is a time for madness! A time for crazy families to get together and let the fun begin! Every family is crazy. You have to be. EVERY family is crazy in their own way. You can say yours is not, but you would be lying. No one is perfect and that means you have drama. What better time for drama than the holidays.

That is why I like “holiday” episodes of TV shows. Something always happens and you can bet it will be insane and drama-filled. Or it can just be plain funny depending on the type of show. But most of these episodes are memorable in one way or another. Some holidays don’t work as TV shows, but Thanksgiving and Christmas work. They work so well..you almost always see them in every show. Maybe the show is not all about the holiday, but you still see images that go with the holiday. There is a tree in the background or lights strung up everywhere or a bunch of food to be eaten. You may not know it’s Christmas or Thanksgiving time in the show, but somehow they tell you it is.

So as you gather together this year with your family..be sure to bring along a pad and pen. You never know what crazy things you might see and what great stories you might could sell to writers of your favorite TV shows. Reality is better than fiction. Where do you think they get all these ideas for holiday episodes and holiday family fun..or madness as the case may be! They come straight from the real world. Look around and you will see.

Well that does it for me this week. Any comments, questions, or suggestions are always welcome. Hopefully..I will be back next week. But if I don’t make it out of the mall alive, you will know as I won’t be back next week. So I will see you when I see you!

Remember…“You Can’t Fight Fate!”. See you next week..hopefully!

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
