[WWE] Huge Shake-up Coming to RAW Tag Division?

Archive

According to Mike Johnson at PWInsider.com, WWE recently signed Eddie “Ekmo” Fatu to a new deal, after being exiled from the company for several years following a personal issue. He will return to WWE once he finishes off international committments, according to Dave Meltzer of WrestlingObserver.com. He currently holds the All Japan tag titles with Taiyo Kea.

Fatu, a relative of Rikishi who has been working with his Nu Wrestling promotion in Italy, was part of the 3 Minute Warning tag team – as “Jamal” – with partner Rosey. In 2002 and 2003, they acted as hired hands of Eric Bischoff, and played a huge role in the initial RAW vs. Smackdown rivalry (and Chuck & Billy wedding storyline). They were later managed by Chuck & Billy’s former image consultant Rico, before Jamal was fired and the team was split up. Rosey then, until recently, was a “superhero in training” and then fellow superhero alongside The Hurricane/Gregory Helms.

Rosey & Jamal also teamed up for years in WWE’s developmental system at Ohio Valley Wrestling, as “The Island Boys” Ekmo and Kemo. There is no confirmation if the team will be reunited, under which moniker, and/or if this new signing has anything to do with the recent Bischoff vs. McMahons storyline.
