Looking Ahead

If you were looking forward to either of my columns last week here on IP then I apologise whole heartedly for not providing the. My internet connection was unavailable from Tuesday-Thursday due to a problem with the telephone lines where I live, and I was away from Friday until Monday, so couldn’t get anything written in time.

Have no fear, as I’m now back in the saddle, and ready to write.

So… made sure your boss isn’t looking over your back? Done everything you were supposed to by now? Made yourself a cup of tea?

Right then… let’s crack on…

Survivor Series 2006 Thoughts, Blah, Etc

Chris Benoit vs. Booker T

Surprised they threw this out first, but it was a pretty good match so all’s well. Oh, and Burnside is right… the comment was blow way out of proportion, and was rather funny too.

Trish vs. Melina

Very impressed with Melina, and the match as a whole. I’d have moved the title over to SmackDown! To freshen things up a bit until WrestleMania, where Trish could win the strap back.

Teddy Long vs. Eric Bischoff

What the f*ck was with the dancing?

Also, Boogieman stalled during his wanky generic finisher, which in my opinion, you just don’t do when it’s a shitty move.

HHH vs. Ric Flair

I loved this match, even though the outcome was more practicable than George Best dying due to his many years of liver abuse. No disrespect, but that guy had his chance and blew it, so f*ck him.

John Cena vs. Kurt Angle

Cena REALLY needs to go back to SmackDown!. At least there the boos can be edited out. That, plus I get the feeling that Raw has more of a Smark following, where SD has more of a younger age group.

Also, as soon as you put on a referee shirt, do you automatically fall unconscious for a good 10 minutes at the slightest body contact or mislaid punch? Diavari was a wrestler. We’ve seen him in matches before, taking punches, moves, etc. Yet when he got knocked to the outside, he stayed down for aaaaaaages.

Raw vs. SmackDown!

Great match. The ending was wank, but that’s just because this spooky crap is getting old now. Either have Orton just END The Undertaker at WrestleMania, or have him face Batista fore the World Title. Just CHOOSE. Because really, what does the Undertaker have after this feud with Orton? JBL? Nah.. he’s pissing around with Mysterio. The only probable person to play with is The Boogyman. And from what I’ve seen of him, I’d rather feel the backlash of dressing up as Santa and running around chasing little kids shouting “COME SIT ON MY LAP!” than watch that match.

The duel-commentery idea was f*cking awesome too. Tazz was great.

Latest PPV News / Rumors

Ken Kennedy tore his lat during the European tour, according to WrestlingObserver.com and PWInsider.com. The tear is said to be a lot more serious than Batista’s, and he will likely be out around six months.

Fuck. The guy starts getting over more and more each week, and now BOOM! No more Kennedy for half a year. Gutted. They should really find a way for him to be on SmackDown! Every week though. For example, a guest ring announcer, where he takes the piss out of the wrestlers.

Or he could have his own talk show. Just something to keep him on our screens.

The Card So Far

Hell in a Cell Match
Randy Orton vs. The Undertaker

Inter-brand Tag Team Match
Batista & Rey Mysterio vs. Big Show & Kane

WWE Tag Team Championship Match
MNM vs. Super Crazy & Psicosis

The Score So Far

Looking Ahead PPV Score: 5/10

A perfectly decent build up so far, considering we’ve just had Survivor Series. With two weeks left, there’s just enough time ignite another feud. Kid Kash – Ken Kennedy perhaps?

Chris Benoit vs. Booker T is a dead cert to be added. I’d make it a bit more interesting by having a Submission match, or Falls Count Anywhere match, but that’s just my opinion.

Obviously the Crusierweight title will be on the line, and I expect some kind of involvement from Matt Hardy, JBL, and The Boogeyman.

PPV Predictions

Hell in a Cell Match
Randy Orton vs. The Undertaker

Winner: The Undertaker

Comments: I really can’t see what else they can do with this feud to lengthen it anymore. If Taker looses, then he’ll look shit because he’s just ‘come back from the dead’. Orton looses, and he won’t look like a good challenger for the World Title, so f*ck knows which direction they’re going to go.

A possibly good way for this feud to go, would be to have The Undertaker go over here, then for Orton to win a buried alive match at the Rumble. Then, if the Big ‘E decide to go with a Batista-Orton match at Wrestlemania 22, they could have Orton win the Rumble.

However, knowing the WWE, they’ll probably do something stupid like have The Boogeyman come out at the end of the Hell in the Cell match and cause The Undertaker to loose, leading to a Taker-Boogyman feud.

Inter-brand Tag Team Match
Batista & Rey Mysterio vs. Big Show & Kane

Winners: Big Show & Kane

Comments: I’m a betting man. And I’m betting that JBL does something to cause the loss by attacking Mysterio or something like that. To be honest, I’m not that into this prolonged Smackdown vs. Raw feud anymore. Yeah it was fun up to and during Survivor Series, but surely now’s the time to stop?

WWE Tag Team Championship Match
MNM vs. Super Crazy & Psicosis

Winners: MNM

Comments: I think it’s too soon for Psicosis & Super Crazy to win the tag straps, however they should do down the line, say, at the Rumble. As we saw on SmackDown! they pulled off some great double-team maneuvers, which got good ‘worried’ reactions from MNM, so that’s why I’m guessing this will lead somewhere.

TBA

With Animal accidentally eliminating his tag team partner Heidenreich from the battle royal, now’s the perfect opportunity to end this shitty “LOD 2005” team once and for all. Have Heidenreich turn on his partner during a match on SmackDown! This week, and you’ve got another match for the card.

The question is will the WWE bother to go with this angle? Will they play off it at all? Will they drag the turn out longer? Only time will tell…

Benoit vs. Booker T is an obvious choice for a match, so there’s not much point speculating about it.
