[RAW] Edge Interview from The LAW

The following radio interview report is from John Pollock:

Adam “Edge” Copeland appeared on The LAW: Live Audio Wrestling this past Sunday night. The entire 25-minute unedited interview with Edge will be available in the “Xtra” section on www.liveaudiowrestling.com on Thursday.

*Edge begins explaining that he tore his pec muscle by falling backwards out of the ring in a battle royal and his arm got caught in the ropes and dislocated his shoulder. He met with Dr. Jim Andrews who recommended surgery but had the option of rehab. He took the rehab because the muscle is still somewhat attached. Andrews told him that surgery would mean he would miss 4-6 months. He talked to Eddy Guerrero about tearing his pec and Guerrero rehabbed without surgery and still missed 4 months. He hopes the muscle doesn’t tear off the bone when he returns.

*On the “Cutting Edge” segment, Edge wants the segment to be very controversial and he is happy with his strides on the mic. Edge said he wants 95% of the audience to hate him. He doesn’t want to be a heel that beats guys clean or does cool moves, and feels he is one of the few legit heels out there because a lot of guys fear the backlash. He wants the segment to be a forum where things are said you would never imagine hearing.

*On the steroid promo at “Survivor Series”, Edge felt it was a bit bizarre doing a promo on steroids but that’s the direction he wants to go in and to get that reaction. His goal is to say what people are thinking and understands he will get things thrown back at him and he’s fine with that. He says it’s good to still have a presence on “Raw” despite the injury.

*When asked about choosing not to take time off for the injury, Edge is asked if the new drug policy will alleviate the pressure of guys to keep wrestling through serious injury. Edge says from his own perspective he was in the mix and had some cool plans but didn’t want to miss 6-months. He doesn’t know how the policy will affect people until it’s instituted. He says for a lot of stuff they do, they have to grit their teeth and get through it.

*When asked about turning the Matt Hardy story into an angle, Edge said he wasn’t crazy about exposing that story to everyone because it’s his personal life but was willing to do business. Edge said he did go to Vince and said that he had no problem with Matt coming back. Edge decided to use the hatred as fuel for his character and didn’t want to explain his side of the story because he would rather the fans believe the façade that he’s a d***. He looked at it as one more reason for fans to hate him. He hopes people can separate the two and he’s not that guy on TV.

The LAW is hosted by Dan “The Mouth” Lovranski and Jason Agnew and can be heard Sunday nights at 11pm EST on AM 640 in Toronto, CJOB 68 in Winnipeg, The FAN 960 in Calgary, MOJO Vancouver 730 and online at www.liveaudiowrestling.com. This Sunday Christian Cage joins the show!
