Not much to say this week as I have nothing to complain about. Too excited to see this week’s episode as well, because last week was GREAT! So lets just get right to it!

The O.C. – Season Three (Episode 9) – “The Disconnect”

We open up to Ryan, Marissa, and Seth driving in a car. They are taking Johnny home from the hospital. Everyone else is busy. Johnny has a not so nice of a house. Johnny gets out and has all kinds of problems getting into his house as he is on crutches. Marissa decides to help him and Ryan seems okay with it. Seth is about to make a wise remark, but Ryan tells him not to say anything. Johnny has no one and he trusts Marissa. Uh..huh.

“California…here we come…right back where we started from…California…here we come! Oh!!”

Kirsten and Julie are talking at the table. Discussing business stuff. There is a dream team if I have ever seen one. Julie has a bright idea. Nude Maids! They will be strippers! Genius! Kirsten doesn’t think so, but Sandy walks in and likes the idea as long as they can iron his stuff the right way. They discuss some more and decide to open up a “party-planning” business! That will makes loads, because Newport means “parties” in Spanish! Oh..that’s fiesta..my bad.

Ryan and Seth walk in the halls at school. Seth asks why Marissa hasn’t called yet. It’s been 10 minutes says Ryan. Summer bumps into them and she is in a hurry. She has to give her SAT scores to the counselor. Summer got a 2300, which is pretty damn great! Ryan says it is better than Seth. Seth is shocked. Summer doesn’t think anything of it. She leaves and Seth asks Ryan “how it is even possible?”

Ryan: “I don’t know, but she did save Chrismukkah!”

That explains it all!

Marissa mothers Johnny to death. Johnny’s mom comes in and apparently Johnny talks about Marissa all the time. I bet. And Johnny’s mom is so happy to meet Marissa. Johnny seems to be wanting Marissa to leave before any more embarrassment can happen. His mom tells him she got him an appointment with the best sports medicine doctor around. But there is a waiting list and it’s about 8 months down the road. That means Johnny will miss the tour this year, which is not good for him.

Summer comes and tells Seth the good news. She is smart! Just like Seth! Summer says that she has aptitude! She’s a genius, but never applied herself. But if she studies hard enough for finals, she can get her grades up and get into Brown U. with Seth. Seth asks if she wants to go there and Summer says now she does. Why? The school colors are seal brown.

Summer: “How cute are seals?!”

Seth doesn’t seem too thrilled about all this, but says he is anyways. They read a book together now. And since Summer is smart enough now..she should enjoy it! HAHAHA!

Sandy talks with Matt at the Cohen house. Matt says Sandy and Kirsten are perfect for each other. It took 25 years. Sandy asks Matt about his girlfriend and he says she is great. In walks Ryan and Seth.

Sandy: “Here are a couple of guys that know a thing or two about romance!”

Seth doesn’t like to talk about housing, so he goes off to the kitchen. This is Ryan’s field and he offers advice. Matt thinks it would be a good idea for Ryan to intern with Sandy and the Newport Group. Sandy likes it. Matt then tells Ryan to blow off his plans tonight, which happen to be with Marissa, so they can talk business. That will go over real well!

Marissa is helping Johnny again. This time finding doctors for him. Summer comes to pick up Marissa. Marissa gets a phone call from Ryan. Meanwhile, Johnny tells Summer that Marissa is being too nice to him. She needs to stop. Summer says she is clingy..you get used to it. Johnny likes that she is spending this much time with him and that is the problem. Summer says she called it awhile back. See..she IS smart! Summer says it’s a major problem, but Johnny says only for him. He tells Summer to not tell anyone. Marissa comes back in and asks what she missed? You don’t want to know..Marissa!

Summer and Marissa talk some more. It’s the next morning. Ryan cancelled the dinner last night with her. Marissa talks more about Johnny and helping him, which brings Summer to the point of asking her if she should be spending all this time with him. Marissa likes being his nurse. So much that she says she might become one. Summer laughs at her! HAHAHAHA!

Ryan and Seth talk at school. Seth goes on and on about having a problem with Ryan canceling with Marissa. Ryan picks up on the fact that Seth has a problem, but it’s not with him. Seth asks who he has a problem with then?

Ryan: “I don’t know. I think it’s great that Summer is a genius!”

Seth: “No..she just has untapped potential. No one used the ‘G’ word!”

Ryan tells him to stop. Don’t compete with Summer! Seth asks if she would win? Ryan gives him a look and walks away.

Kirsten and Julie discuss their business some more. More like Kirsten talking about the business than Julie. She is more worried about eating and other stuff. Kirsten leaves for a second to go get something from her car. That opens up a seat for a guy to come up to Julie and hit on her. Julie says they have a business lunch. He seems interested. Kirsten comes back to see Julie talking to this guy. His name is Jeff. Julie invited him to join them. It appears that he is their first client. He hired them to throw a party for $5,000. Kirsten is all for that now!

Seth and Summer go to this “Brown University event”. Some girls come up to them and are all surprised that Summer is there. Seth thinks they should leave. Summer asks why and Seth says she doesn’t have to do this for him. Summer says this is for her too. Seth says this has always been his dream. Summer says she may never have had a dream, but she wants to do something special now. She wants to be the first woman in space or win one of those noble prizes. Seth corrects her and I see what is about to happen. Don’t do it Seth! Take it from me! But he does it anyways. He says that women have already went to space and it’s Nobel not Noble. Summer gets upset. She doesn’t leave, though. She does leave Seth’s side to go “work the room”, though.

Ryan is talking with Matt and Matt reveals that he asked his girlfriend to marry him. She said no, because she doesn’t like him. Oh..that had to hurt! Ryan asks Matt if he talked to Sandy about this? Matt says it’s not Sandy’s problem. Sandy walks in and gives them some last-minute stuff to do. Ryan thinks they should tell Sandy that they might not be ready to do this. But Matt says they will. But first a little field trip!

A guy from Brown University tells everyone that they usually only pick 1 student from Harbor High each year to go to Brown. And Summer and Seth exchange a look. Let the bidding war begin! Summer and Seth run up to the Brown guy and Summer asks him what makes a person stand out? He says a “hook”. The wheels start turning for both Seth and Summer and they start their competition. This can only end badly!

Marissa tells Johnny and his mom that she had Summer put in a good word with her dad, and he agreed to look at Johnny soon. Johnny’s mom says that Marissa must stay for dinner. But she has plans with Ryan. Johnny tells his mom that is Marissa’s boyfriend. His mom tells them to invite him as well. Big party at Johnny’s house! Ryan calls Marissa and Marissa asks him. He says that is cool. But they may have to start without him. Why?

Because Matt and Ryan are at a club..a strip club! Matt does his best thinking at this club. He is a regular. Matt pays for a lapdance for Ryan. Ryan doesn’t seem too thrilled about all of this. They have work to do!

Seth is back at home. Sandy and Kirsten are in the kitchen. Seth has a pirate’s costume in his hands.

Kirsten: “Is that a pirate costume?”

Seth: “Summer and I are at war!”

Sandy: “A pirate war?!”

Seth: “It turns out that Brown only takes 1 student a year..so I need a hook.”

Sandy: “Oh..you mean like Captain Hook!”

HAHAHAHA!! Leave it to Sandy! The doorbell rings and Seth goes to get it. Kirsten is shocked that Summer can get into Brown. No offense or anything, but again..

Sandy: “She did save Chrismukkah!”

Sandy tells Kirsten that Ryan is with Matt tonight. He is a good role model for Ryan.

Meanwhile, Ryan has a girl in his lap. Ryan gets a call. It’s from Marissa. But he can’t answer the phone as the girl won’t let him.

It’s getting late and Marissa wants to know where he is? Marissa is busy hanging out on the couch with Johnny..alone! Johnny’s head falls onto Marissa’s shoulder. Marissa pushes it off, but it falls back on it.

Back at the club now. Ryan escapes to go call Marissa. But this time she is busy and can’t answer her phone. What is she doing? Sleeping with Johnny. Or at least she has fallen asleep with Johnny’s head on her shoulder. Wonderful!

It’s morning and Marissa is just getting back to Summer’s house. Summer is upset. Asks where she has been and all of that. She fell asleep. Summer asks “at Ryan’s?” But she was at Johnny’s! Marissa changes the subject. Summer has a tuba. Must be her hook. Summer tells her to stop changing the subject. Ryan comes in and both he and Marissa lie to each other. Ryan didn’t tell her that he and Matt went to a strip club and Marissa doesn’t tell him that she fell asleep at Johnny’s house. They hug and both have a look on their face!

Matt is late for the presentation. Ryan doesn’t bust him out, though. Matt thanks him. Ryan says this better be a good presentation.

Meanwhile, Summer is in the band with her tuba. She is not in the band. But she is going to perform with them today. Summer then see Seth in his pirate costume. He is talking to some cheerleader trying to get her to let him perform with them.

Seth: “Johnny Depp has been a HUGE inspiration to me in my life. And I just think that he has taken this pirate thing..to a whole new level!”

The cheerleader says they already have a mascot. Now Seth and Summer chat it up about how they are trying to outdo each other! And now it’s time to get violent!

Seth: “Did you just wack me with your tuba?!”

Summer: “Did you just jab me with your peg leg?!”

This finally leads to what is bothering Seth. Summer asks why Seth has to always be better than her. But Seth says he isn’t now. There was always one thing he was better at, but not now.

Presentation time. It appears that Matt is only half-ready! Which may cost them this thing as the people don’t seem too happy when they leave. Sandy turns and asks Ryan if there is something he should know?

Johnny is at his house. There is a knock at the door and Johnny goes to get it, but he slips and falls. Marissa comes running in and helps him. He may have twisted his knee again.

It’s time for the party. It’s a “party for two”, though! Jeff invited no one. He just wants Julie to have dinner with him. Kirsten is upset. Julie seems flattered. He did all of this for just a date with Julie. Julie likes it, but Kirsten leaves. They have to serve themselves!

Ryan takes Sandy to the club, where they find Matt. Sandy confronts Matt. He fires Matt! Ryan didn’t want that to happen, but Sandy says he is in trouble as well.

Johnny is loaded on painkillers and here we go! Johnny says Marissa is making it hard on him. They are friends, but Johnny has to tell her something. He REALLY likes her. Marissa likes him too. But then Johnny says that he thinks that he loves her! Marissa is a little surprised.

Seth and Ryan talk. Seth asks about Ryan and stuff. Only so that they can talk about Seth’s problem now. Seth says he fears that Summer being smart may change their whole dynamic.

Seth: “Being smart..made me almost a man in her eyes!”

Ryan says that Seth has lots of things that Summer likes than just being smart. He is funny for one.

Seth: “Have you noticed how Summer has gotten funnier lately? I think she is even funnier than me now!”

Seth doesn’t seem to thrilled about the list of things that Ryan came up with. Well..Seth is good with a grill now. But Ryan says that Summer doesn’t want to be Seth, she wants to be with Seth! Seth understands now and apologizes to Ryan. Ryan has to go apologize to Sandy now and wants Seth to give him a ride.

Marissa gets a call from Johnny in the morning time. Summer tells her not to answer it. Marissa says he may think that she is mad at him. Marissa says it’s not a big deal. He probably didn’t mean it. He was loaded on pills. Summer says that he probably did mean it. Summer tells Marissa that Johnny told her about it before. Summer suggests to Marissa to stay away from Johnny for a bit. Then she asks Marissa if she is going to tell Ryan?

Ryan and Sandy talk at his office. Ryan tells Sandy that Matt’s girlfriend broke up with him and all of that. A stripper from the club is at Sandy’s office now. She was there when Sandy fired Matt. She is a friend of Matt’s from college. She says that Matt has been through a lot lately and he deserves another shot. She was the one that got Matt in touch with the investors and can get them another meeting with them.

Summer is heading out her door to go and apologize to Seth. But Seth shows up at her door instead. They talk. He apologizes for being an ass. And all of that. They make up.

Summer: “Cohen..I will always look up to you. And not just because you are taller than me!”

Seth and Summer then proclaim that this is the year that Brown will take more than 1 student from Harbor!

Sandy talks with Matt. Matt is about to leave with his stuff, but Sandy gives Matt another chance. It’s his last chance, thoug. He owes Sandy.

Julie comes to the Cohen house. The date didn’t go so well. No clicking! Julie says it’s weird that a man would pay that much money to just go on a date with a woman. That gives Kirsten an idea. Julie has one too.

Julie: “A ‘high-class’ call girl organization! I love it!”

Kirsten: “No..a ‘high-end’ dating service!”

Julie says that could work too and they high-five each other! Business it is!

Johnny comes to Marissa’s house and tells her that he didn’t mean to say what he said, but he did mean it. He just didn’t want things to get weird between them. They already are. He still wants to be friends and Marissa agrees. But she thinks they should spend some time apart for a bit. Ah..been there..buddy! They hug.

Now we get a music montage of images. We see Summer and Seth filling out applications together for Brown. Meanwhile, Marissa and Ryan look for each other. They end up at the other ones’ home..only to find neither of them there. Now Summer and Seth hold hands as they mail off their applications. They both agree that whoever gets into Brown..has to go. It’s their dream together now and they still love each other no matter what! But first an English lesson from Seth. Summer kicks him in the leg as they leave! HA!

Ryan and Marissa talk on the phone. They ask how each other’s weekends went. Both were strange. Ryan tells Marissa that he got a lapdance. But Marissa tells Ryan that she fell asleep at Johnny’s and then tells him everything else that happened as we fade to black!

We are out until next week when it’s Chrismukkah time once again! Happy! Joy! Joy! Joy!

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
