[NJPW] Huge Brock Lesnar Update

Archive

New Japan Pro Wrestling is running shows late tonight and Sunday in Osaka and Nagoya, respectively. IWGP Champion Brock Lesnar is scheduled to face Yuji Nagata and Manabu Nakanishi in singles matches over the weekend, with a third scheduled NJPW match to happen on January 4 at the Tokyo Dome for the title vs. Kazuyuki Fujita.

WWE, however, is trying to get a temporary restraining order whereby Brock could not fight in these matches. As of a few hours ago, the U.S. District Court in Connecticut had not upheld WWE’s request, making it very unlikely that this will happen for the weekend’s shows. According to WrestlingObserver.com’s Dave Meltzer, “to grant the order, the WWE needed to prove it would suffer irreparable harm if Lesnar were to perform in the weekend matches.”

Lesnar, the former WWE Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion, has been in Japan for several days.
