[WWE] How to Clean up Wrestling, Spike Ratings, Striker Injury Update

Archive

– In today’s Mediaweek, the trade magazine takes a look at Spike’s ratings decline — particularly on Mondays — since losing WWE to USA Network. No mention of TNA Wrestling in the piece, which includes several quotes from industry experts on Spike’s prospects for 2006.

– The following is from a house show report (RAW in Ft. Meyers) from the weekend, as found on WrestlingObserver.com: Lance Cade beat Matt Striker. Striker appeared to be legitimately injured after taking a backdrop out of the ring and straight onto the guardrail. After two or three minutes Cade rolled him into the ring and went straight to his finisher. Local paramedics went to the ring with a stretcher but Striker walked back under his own power. It appeared he may have dislocated his shoulder. PWInsider.com has since posted that word is that Striker is okay. If anyone was at the show and has additional comments, please send them to me here.

– The Miami Herald and Slam Wrestling have reviews up on Armageddon.

Slate.com has posted a tongue-in-cheek article written by Randy and Jason Sklar – hosts of ESPN Classic’s “Cheap Seats” – talking about how wrestling needs to be cleaned up.
