Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Gauntlet II – (Episode 4)

Cue the music..cue the entrances..cue the cool water scenes where everyone comes up through the water to the surface and they are dry as a bone! Those were the veterans and now the rookies are already on the beach and they fight it out…

We start off with some drama, of course. Ibis says Danny still is mad about the past. Danny and Jodi were on the same ‘Road Rules’ together. Danny thought Jodi was weaker than him. However, they voted Danny out before Jodi. That pissed Danny off! Other members of the “Rookie” team pick up on the fact that Danny is a loose cannon and ready to snap. Jodi says Danny can’t let things go from the past and that hurts the team.

The teams get a message and they must be ready to be “on top”. It’s a “men’s gauntlet challenge”. Losing men’s team captain goes into the gauntlet. Ace is glad he is still around this long. He wants to keep it up. Adam doesn’t even want to go in the gauntlet. He wants to take the “chicken” way out of things. But what about the Best Buy gift cards?!?! Don’t you want one of them?! Come on!

The name of this challenge is “Moving Pyramid”. The teams have to put three people on the bottom, two on top of them, and one on the very top. They have to move this pyramid along the course by crawling. They have to collect flags along the way and everyone has to be on the very top before it’s all done with. If they fall, they have to start over. There is an hour time limit and whoever has the most flags..wins the challenge. If there is a tie, then they form one more pyramid and race!

“Rookies” believe that no team can collect all 16 flags. So they think the women should be on top before the men go up. The “veterans” have the same idea as well, though. Ace has his own strategy and that is to “not get voted out”. Good for him.

The challenge begins and it’s harder than it looks or sounds. We see Katie fall off the pyramid and that screws up the “Veterans” already!

Commercial time!

We come back and both teams have a bunch of flags. Randy says they will get more flags than they thought. So they will have to carry the guys for the longest leg. Smart move..guys!

Meanwhile, Jodi and Danny are in the same pyramid and they begin to fight. Jodi yells out directions and orders. Alton is the captain and he tries to calm his team. It doesn’t work that well.

“Veterans” are being led by Derrick. Ace says he is the strongest member of the team. He gives it his all in every challenge. Alton says this hurts so much. Knees in the back and crawling on the ground! Owww!!

Danny starts yelling at other members of his team. He does things his own way. And ends up to Danny being pissed and he says he is ready to flip out!

Both teams now have 15 flags and that just leaves 1 more. “Rookies” decide to sit it out. There is three and half minutes left in the challenge and they think that no team can make it back in the time limit. “Veterans” decide to try. If they make it, they win. If they don’t, it’s a time and they will be more tired. 30 seconds are left, but they give it their all. Timmy calls them “pitbulls” and Ace is a key member in this pyramid. It’s close, but they make it with 4 seconds left! “Veterans” win this challenge!! 2 to 1 for them!

Ibis says the “rookies” deserved to lose, because they didn’t try to win. They waited for the other team to fail, and that didn’t work.

Derrick gets the gift card and Alton must face a member of his team. Derrick says he gained more respect with this win, which is a good thing.

Time for drama! Danny just snaps and yells at Jodi. Danny says that Jodi doubts him in every challenge..from the very beginning! Jodi says to forget the past. Danny pretty much puts himself in the gauntlet as he yells at Jodi and then yells at Cara after she laughs at him. He tells her to go “suck another BLEEP”. So yeah..there you go. It should be obvious, who is going to face Alton, but you never know.

Commercial time!

Alton is the captain and the “rookies” have decided to let the captain choose who they face. Therefore, Alton picks Danny, because he was arguing with Jodi. It is not good for the team to be fighting. Danny says that him arguing shouldn’t matter. It doesn’t affect his performance. But everyone else thinks it does and then he snaps and yells at everyone!

TJ comes in to spin the wheel and the gauntlet is named “Beach Brawl”! Danny says he is going to beat the crap out of Alton in the gauntlet. He uses other words to say it, though.

Time to brawl! Alton and Danny have to oil themselves in this gauntlet. Syrus wants Danny to win, because Alton is a strong player and Danny is weak. The object of this gauntlet to push the other person out of the circle. Danny thinks the oil will cause Alton to slip off of him. Julie says that Danny is “ready to go CRAZZZY”! He already has!

The gauntlet starts and Alton sidesteps Danny and Danny is out in like 2 seconds! Alton wins #1!

The second round starts and the same thing. Alton pretty much just overpowers Danny and pushes him out for win #2. It’s “Best of Five”,so one more and Alton wins.

Danny starts off round three in the “crab position”. That doesn’t work either. Alton spins Danny around and pushes him out for the third win. Alton wins the gauntlet! Susie is glad that Alton is still their leader! Danny is going home! Jillian is unhappy that they lost another challenge, but is glad that Danny is going home. He was a loose cannon.

And we get more of that before Danny leaves. He yells at Cara once more at the pool. Cara says everyone is laughing at him and is holding it in until he leaves. Jodi says that Danny likes to go out in style.

Danny says that the “rookies” will now lose the whole game, because he is gone now. What?! Yep..I’m sure that will happen! Crrraaazzzzzyyyy!!!

And we are out until next week!

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
