Inside Pulse WWE SmackDown! Report

Archive

First off, I would like to thank everybody that stepped in to write my column during my lengthy “vacation.”

The show starts with a backstage segment involving Booker T playing up his real life groin injury. Booker tells T. Lo that since he has the most wins in the Best of 7 series for the vacant WWE United States championship, he should be awarded the series and the title.
T. Lo informs the Booker man that since he can’t compete tonight, then he will have to forfeit the match to Benoit. Booker T claims that that is unacceptable and demands that somebody fill in for him. Teddy obliges.

The first MATCH of the night is Matt Hardy taking on “The Wrestling God” JBL. JBL overpowers Matt early on. Hardy gets his licks in and the action spills to the outside. Enter The Boogeyman. Boogey stalks JBL around the outside of the ring, and chases him through the crowd giving The Sensai of Mattitude the count out victory.

Winner-Matt Hardy.

Okay, the next match is so damn boring, that I’m not even gonna pay attention to the play by play. I love the Mexicools, when they first debuted, I was skeptical, but they’ve really grown on me. The Dicks, well, they just suck…(no pun intended)

Mexicools vs. The Dicks (still not touching the joke….sad really, cause I’ve got so many.)

Winners- The Mexicools

Former WWE United States Champion Orlando Jordan is shown backstage talking to Booker T about nominating him for the series match. Booker T and Sharmell both laugh at him and say that he’d probably just tap out to The Canadian Crippler again. Jordan says that he’ll remember that. *see kids, this is called foreshadowing….all though, creative won’t remember it in a few weeks.

Melina enters the ring with some reporters and stands at a podium. She states that she will be filing a motion of sexual harassment against the current World Heaveyweight and one half of the WWE Tag Team champion, Batista. She says that last week, Batista used his physical prowress and push as the World champ to force himself upon her. Okay, see, the only reason that I wasn’t there to protect her was I was dreaming….horrible joke, sorry.

Booker T is still inquiring backstage when he comes upon The Legend Killer Randy Orton. He asks the “Master of the RKO” to sub for him, Orton agrees.

Best of Seven series- match number 5 Chris Benoit vs. Randy Orton
This match sees Booker T. and Sharmell doing color commentary. Orton works over Benoits arm for most of the match. Benoit hits the Germans and the Three Amigos in tribute to Eddie. Benoit works over the youngest World champion in history. Sharmell grabs one of Booker T.’s crutches and hits The Rabid Wolverine over the back. The ref sees it and awards the match to Benoit.
Booker yells at Sharmell for giving Chris Benoit the DQ victory. Benoit is watching the two argue and making sure that they don’t come into the ring and spoil his victory. The power couple leave and Benoit turns into a devastating RKO by The Legend Killer Randy Orton. Orton leaves as Benoit lays in the ring.

WWE Cruiserweight Champion Kid Kash is shown being interviewed by Funaki. Kash says that he is the best cruiserweight in the company. He insults Funaki and Mexicans and hit SmackDown!’s #1 Announcer with the MoneyMaker Brainbuster and walks away.

Bobby Lashley is in the ring for his match with Sylvan. The match is given to Lashley when Sylvan runs away to protect his “good looks”.

Time for the Main Event. WWE Tag team champs Rey Mysterio and Batista defending their belts agains MNM. Back and forth action and quick tags from MNM see Mysterio knee get worked over most of the match. Rey teases the quick tag and finally gets it. Batista runs in and dominates MNM, until Mark Henry appears and destroys Batista. MNM get the cover and win.

Winner’s and NEW WWE Tag Team Champions- MNM

The last show of 05 wasn’t horribly bad, but I would’ve liked to have seen more matches and less talking. The match of the night is by far Orton vs. Benoit.
