Part of the reason Christy Hemme was fired was similar to Daniel Puder’s release, since they were making a lot as part of winning the contest, but WWE didn’t want to pay them so much any longer. Dave Meltzer says that she was sent to OVW as a way for WWE to get her to quit, but when she took it in stride (and since she’s dating Joey Mercury, who lives in Louisville, she was being optimistic about it), they fired her anyway. There was talk of having her team with CM Punk, and in fact she was talking with Punk the night before her release about ideas, so she likely didn’t see this coming at all.
