Previously, on Lost: Charlie abandons the heroin, but finds some locked up in Virgin Mary statues. Michael has a conversation on the computer with someone who seems to be Walt.

Flashback: Kids are playing soccer somewhere in Africa, but a truck arrives with lots of adults with guns, who instruct to take the children and get everyone else out of there. A man gives a little kid a gun, and informs him to shoot the old man. He doesn’t do it, so his big brother rushes up and does it for him. His name? Eko. “Look at Mr. Eko, a born killer.” The gunners take Eko away and leave his cross necklace on the ground.

In the jungle, Eko is carving things to remember into a piece of wood, as Claire wants to take a look as well. Claire chose the name Aaron for her baby because she just liked the name. Aaron, as the brother of Moses, spoke for Moses most of the time. Claire asks Eko to talk to Charlie about religion because of the Virgin Mary statue, but Eko knows something’s fishy. He busts open the statue for Claire to see. “Where’s Charlie?”

LOST.

Locke works the numbers on a combination lock, the first two numbers of which are 25 and 29. Michael swings by, but Locke is changing the combination lock on the gun locker so that the new people don’t have access to it, but Locke has a feeling that Michael wants some guns.

Charlie and Jin are fishing, but here comes Eko, who wants Charlie to take him to the site of the plane crash. Now.

Flashback: Eko and his henchmen arrive to talk drugs with a dealer, who needs to get a lot of heroin out of the country fast. Eko makes a deal, but the other dealer says he doesn’t have a soul. So Eko slashes him and his buddy’s throat, which shocks a little kid also in the room. His henchmen draw guns on the kid, but Eko wants the kid to tell everyone that Mr. Eko let him live.

Charlie manages to lie to Claire, telling her that he wouldn’t know what was inside the statue, so how could he be using again? Claire doesn’t seem so sure, and tells Charlie to just go with Eko.

Deeper in the jungle, Locke is teaching Michael with a little target practice, as Michael denies that he’s going to run off and try to find Walt again. Locke believes him, and Michael is able to fire a good round out of the rifle, giving us a little sly smile afterwards.

Charlie tries to lie to Eko and say that he found the statue by the tree, but Eko doesn’t believe him, and gets a little rough with him, demanding that Charlie take him to the plane. So they’re on their way to the plane, as Eko doesn’t answer the question about how he knew about the plane, but asks Charlie about “the wrong idea,” and lying to Claire about what was in the statue. Charlie doesn’t answer that question however, getting offended that Eko thinks he’s the boss now. But Eko sees black smoke streaking across the jungle, and decides they should get moving.

Flashback: Eko arrives to meet his little brother again, who is a preacher now. He says that he wants to confess, but the brother doesn’t believe that, because he knows what kind of man Eko is. Eko reminds his brother that he saved him by pulling the trigger for him, but when Eko asks for one of the church’s plane to transport drugs out of the country, Eko’s brother sees right through it, knowing that it’s Eko’s greed propelling him to the church.

Sawyer is getting his haircut by Kate, who denies that everyone loves him now. But Hurley and Michael confirm this, at the same time that Michael takes Kate’s shift for hatch duty.

Charlie is ready to take a break, and his excuse is that his brother is to blame for him becoming a heroin addict. But Eko notices another thing: a parachute in the tree. He walks over to a priest’s dead body…a man with a gold tooth. Michael tries to make the connection that they’re both priests because of the scripture on Eko’s stick.

Flashback: Eko disrupts confession to ask about his brother reconsidering the deal, since righteousness and evil are not that separate in the real world. Eko threatens to burn the whole church down if his brother doesn’t sign a piece of paper for the money to get the polio vaccine in Nigeria. His signature makes Eko a priest, and Eko hands over the money for all the Virgin Mary statues, labeling Eko’s brother as a sinner. “But God will forgive me, Eko.”

Back in the jungle, Charlie’s lost. Eko tells Charlie to climb the tree as a way to get his bearings or see the plane. “What if I don’t, are you going to beat me with your Jesus Stick?” Eko just wants to know if he’s going to climb the tree or not, and Charlie reluctantly agrees. Eko tells Charlie to keep climbing, but Eko’s hearing noises, and then…EXPLOSION! SECURITY SYSTEM! The black smoke rushes Eko, who stares it down. Inside the cloud, flashes go off, but Eko does not budge as the smoke growls and goes back into the jungle. Holy shit.

Eko was not afraid of the black smoke creature, but Charlie did see the plane as Eko goes in the direction of Charlie’s point.

Michael makes sure that the hatch is all clear before going to the computer room and trying to start up a conversation. “Dad?” Michael asks if Walt is okay, which is an affirmative. Walt can’t talk long, since they’re coming back soon. Michael asks where Walt is, and Walt types a response. “You need to cor…” Here comes Dr. Jack, who lets Michael know that as soon as they can, they’re going to find a way to bring Walt back. Michael thanks Jack for his consideration, checks the computer screen–blank–and leaves Michael to his business.

Finally, Eko and Charlie reach the plane site…

Flashback: The plane is actually still mobile as Eko and his other priest load the “merchandise” into the plane, but one of his goons points a gun at an oncoming car on the runway. It’s Eko’s brother, who wants to replace Eko on the plane. Here comes the military, thanks to his brother’s tipoff, but his brother tries to call off the gunfire and gets shot himself. Eko doesn’t get on the plane either, as it takes off without him, and with his wounded brother on board.

Back at the downed plane, Eko steps inside, noticing his dried, bloody hands still on the frame of the door. Eko goes to the back of the plane, finding his brother’s body.

Flashback: The military arrives, mistaking Eko for his brother, assuming that he was the one who tipped them off. “Are you okay, Father?”

Charlie is informed of his brother’s dead body, as Eko wraps him with a broken part of a Virgin Mary statue. But then Eko rips the fuel line out, pouring it on his brother’s body and then giving Charlie a new statue outside the plane to replace the broken one. The plane burns as Charlie asks Eko if he is a priest, or what. Eko confirms this and they both read the Lord’s Prayer together.

A montage as Eko reads scripture…

…Jin and Sun greet Ana-Lucia with some islandwarming food.

…Libby struggles with a tent, as Hurley helps construct the thing.

…Sawyer admires his new haircut, as Jack swings by to hand over some medication for Sawyer’s wound.

Finally, Charlie arrives back to Claire, who seems ready to kick Charlie out. Charlie apologizes for lying to her, but Claire doesn’t want him anywhere near them. So Charlie takes his stuff and goes.

Nightfall, as Charlie puts a torch in a tree and then moves some foilage around, putting the newest statue with a large collection of them in the ground.

End episode.
