I continue my comeback, revising yet another issue of 100 Bullets, as it continues its serpentine path to the (rumoured) conclusion in issue #100.

We check in on a number of our friends in this issue, both from past and present. These include Augustus Medici, Jack, Loop, Vic, and a younger, blonder Graves. Graves even gets a first name in this issue.

Its pretty futile recapping the plot in this issue, as its pretty hard to imagine people only buying some arcs on this series and not others.

Like almost every story-line in this series, although the series can be followed over time, there are few ‘one-shots’ or ‘great jumping-on points’ for people keen to explore the hype about 100 Bullets.

In any event, there is certainly some plot movement in this issue, with a previously-thought-dead figure looking very alive, and various other plot threads coming unravelled in time for the finale in part 2 of this two-part story-line.

All of Azzarello’s trademark dialogue is here, with people talking in that unmistakable noir dialect, being closely related to many a Humphrey Bogart movie.

The art team excel in this issue, with a great use of light and shade by Risso on the page in which Jack is ‘preparing’ for his fight.

The conclusion is, as usual, a twist, where yet another character is ready to fight, and wearing a well-known word on his body.

I can’t wait for the trades in this series, but I can understand that people who find single issues waaay too inpenetrable.

One for the fans.
