DC solicitations for April 2006 [Here]
PAUL “IT’S ONLY A RASH” SEBERT: I’m normally excited about both company’s solicitations but… to be honest I’m kind of “meh” about both Marvel & DC’s releases for April.
SPIDER-GIRL ends with issue #100 [Confirmation]
PAUL SEBERT: *shrugs* No real tragedy. Considering how few books make it past the 100 mark these days, DeFalco and his team really should be patting themselves on the back.

PAUL SEBERT: A Frank Cho’s Women art book Hardcover and the Jesus vs. Vampires?! Finally something to be excited about in April.
Cartoon Network to ditch JLU for LSH [Rumour]
PAUL SEBERT: I wouldn’t hold out too much hope for another season of the Justice League as well, the way these things work about 5 seasons or so it’s just cheaper to syndicate reruns and sell DVD/Videos rather than make new episodes.
I’m really curious to see how the Legion of Superheroes cartoon will turn out.
“COREN” COREN: Awesome! And in a couple years, when that gets popular, they can start randomly delaying it, putting on shitty anime in its place, and get all tight-lipped about what’s going on for months on end. It’ll be great!
Ahead be spoilers! Or at least, possible ones! Whichever, I warned you.
Although, from what I understand, the show’s already getting started on a funky note… supposedly one member of the current JLU squad is leaving after this season (regardless of continuation) to join the LOSH, but then when Legion starts, it’s a different member of the JLU (and supposedly both are core members (although I could definitely see one being Supergirl))

Marvel books for April [Elsewhere]
MANOLIS “SEX ON THREE LEGS” VAMVOUNIS: Who cares about Brubaker or UNCANNY X-MEN or the silly MK line! The news that made my jaw drop and my heart skip a beat were the solicits for DEAD GIRL #4 and the accompanying cover!

Everyone should run off and buy DEAD GIRL #1 tomorrow! I read the advance copy and it’s truly the best comic to come out of Marvel in the last 2 years! Run, fanboy, run!
MATT MORRISON: That’s not much given the state of Marvel in the last 2 years…
WILL “CLICK THIS LINK” COOLING: The Nick Fury miniseries sounds interesting, completely missed any news about this before. Hopefully, it will be as good as PUNISHER: BORN. The two Joe Casey ini-series sound fun as well, although I’ll probably pick all three miniseries up in trade.
And Brubaker on UNCANNY X-MEN, well hopefully it shows that Marvel have finally emembered that the only reason to have Claremont on an X-Book is to satisfy those poor eluded souls that he’s still the X-Men writer and so won’t except anyone else. Brubaker should be fun as well, although I can’t see me buying it.
MANOLIS VAMVOUNIS: I’ll definitely buy Brubaker’s X-Men! The only thing that worries me is Milligan’s future on the X-Men title. I hope they don’t switch him with Claremont!
IAIN “OR THIS ONE” BURNSIDE: Don’t panic, Claremont still has NEW EXCALIBUR to play around with. He’s also got that upcoming mini-series Marvel.com held a poll for, though I’ve no idea what actually won.
WILL COOLING: NEW EXCALIBUR will be a good enough playground for Claremont to party like its 1980. Its the likes of Claremont of Byrne that make me appreciate how incredible the likes of John Wagner and Pat Mills are to still be relevant after some forty years in the business.
Btw, Iain joined the ranks of comic book writers, with his (very good) story in Girl Comic 10! Read my (very good) review here and then buy the comic here!

By the way, there shall be a bare minimum of three more Burnside-flavoured comics coming out in ’06. Yes, in the absence of anything better to do I am turning this week’s Roundtable into an all-out Pimp Fest in my honour. Now I know how Jeff Jarrett must feel.
Of course, if I’m as hungover at the weekend as I think I’m going to be then the Roundtable might not even surface. Hell, I might not even surface. If it’s anything like last time then I’ll just be on the bathroom floor.

I just realised I still haven’t read AKIRA and all six volumes are sitting on my shelf. What a waste.
I’m not really certain why my mind went from pimps to alcohol to crazy Japanese bastards. Perhaps there is a comic about a crazy alcoholic Japanese pimp. Perhaps I should read it. Perhaps, and this is more helpful, I should just go and get some f*cking sleep.

Marvel Knights version 2.0 [Details]
COREN: So if I read that article right (and I could have misread it, admittedly)… two titles will debut for book 1 in MK, then redebut book 2 in MU? Uh… what?
But man, Marvel looks to be on fire for April. There’s a ton of books I’m looking forward to… but is ASTONISHING X-MEN bimonthly now?
IAIN BURNSIDE: It is indeed… until August, when it becomes monthly again. Not sure if they’re just back for another 6 issues or for another 12.
PAUL SEBERT: The MK franchise has been an imprint without much of a dirrection for a while now, I’m surprised they haven’t done this sooner.

MATT MORRISON: Like most things on AICN, I find this rather suspect. This seems like a rather crazy way to balance out some fan accusations that Kirsten Dunst would have been a better Gwen Stacy (being a natural blonde and all)… so now they are casting a natural redhead to play Gwen…
I’d think it a lot more likely they bring in Black Cat than Gwen at this point if they are going to do a love triangle… they already had an actress cast and everything for Spider-Man 2…

PAUL SEBERT: This should be interesting. Ed Brubaker’s done a bang-up job on Captain America, but he’s got some fairly big shoes to step into on this one.
