The RAW Events
— The Royal Rumble came and went last night as we saw Gregory Helms win the Cruiserweight Title, and Rey Mysterio winning the Rumble itself over HHH and Randy Orton. But I guess the most shocking thing of all is Edge losing the title back to Cena so quickly and pretty much being a “transitional” champ. Its going to be interesting see how they work things out here… but I’m not holding my breath.

Orlando, FL.

Hosts: Joey Styles, King and The Coach

The MAIN Events

– Rob Van Dam vs. Snitsky
RVD makes his Raw return debut. Crowd behind RVD as he starts of the high flying quickly before getting shot down by Snitsky. Leg work gets going as RVD is clothes lined hard off a turnbuckle move. Snitsky dominates for a while as RVD gets his second wind and nails the rolling thunder for two! Spinning back kick leads to the Five-Star Frog Splash for the 1-2-3. RVD 1-0 in the return tour.
Winner: Rob Van Dam (2)

– HHH vs. Chavo Guerrero
Well you know that since HHH lost last night (and to all people Rey-Rey) that he’ll get his heat back tonight in a quick one over Chavo. And poor Chavo has to resort to the no entrance theory (no win). Chavo gets some hits in throughout the match, but nothing to exciting to operate on offense as HHH is the one to take control through the majority. Potential frog splash breaks the momentum and sets up the pedigree. Actually wasn’t as short as I expected it to be.
Winner: HHH (4)

– World Tag Team Title Match: Carlito & Masters vs. Kane & Big Show (Champs)
Wow, please don’t give the titles to these guys… please oh please! No main event (thankfully) but I still don’t like Masters in ANY title match! Thank goodness total domination by the big guys near the end (and an RVD interference) ending it with a double chokeslam on Masters!!!
Winner: Kane & Big Show (5)

– Shelton Benjamin w/ Mama vs. Goldust
So now Shelton is fighting rehashed wrestlers!?!? I hope he gets this win. Goldust gets the early hand on the match, flipping Benjamin out and things go back and forth for a bit until Mama calls out Goldust shaking his flip-flop at him giving Shelton a chance to capitalize. T-Bone wins!
Winner: Shelton Benjamin (3)

– WWE Title: Edge vs. John Cena (Champ)
Lock up starts the match to hold things up giving Edge the upper hand. Edge is goes up top but is tossed off by Cena onto the announce table taking us to break. Back into it, Edge is back on top as we start to get the near falls. Edge falls of the corner (boy, not having a good night on those top rope moves) as Cena picks up a two! Edge uses the ropes and gets the two! Edge goes face first into the turnbuckle as Cena calls for the five-knuckle shuffle. FU time as it reversed and hits the ref (he’s out for the night) and Edge goes for the low blow as no ref is present Spear hits… no ref. Lita hits Edge with the title as the ref gets up to give DQ Cena and give Edge the title.
Winner: Edge (1)

Quick HEAT

— Edge starts things off, telling us he wasn’t suppose to lose to Cena last night. And that he won’t wait till Wrestlemania or Saturday Main Event, he’s gonna use his rematch clause tonight because he won’t be a transitional champ. Lots of heat there!

— Vince walks down with his swagger and a grin, telling us that his guarantee worked against Michael and him not winning the rumble. HBK makes his way down as well wanting to take down Vince, but knows he could get fired. Wants to do the ‘turn the other cheek’ method, but knows he’ll get sued. One option is left to roll back the clock to get back the old Michaels. But that wont happen and Vince tells him then he is screwed, more so than Bret Hart. But HBK wants to settle things in the ring as Vince doesn’t give him a quick answer. So HBK tries to do a little reverse psychology to persuade the match, so Vince DECLINES! And wants HBK to commit career suicide by hitting him to get fired. Shane comes from behind and completely destroys Shawn by a behind the back chair shot. Good to see Shane-O-Mac back in action.

— The McMahon’s are confronted in the parking lot, as Shane just says that you don’t mess with the McMahon family.

— Shelton’s Mama is pep talking him on “almost” and that Benjamin will be a champion and see will see of that. But as he leaves Goldust is rubbing mama’s shoulders.

— Maria interviews HHH over the Rumble in how HHH doesn’t buy how Rey Mysterio beat him. And doesn’t buy divine intervention by Eddie Guerrero because his title match is now gone. But he will take it out on Chavo tonight.

— Carlito talks about how he stood up to Shaq and that he can take on anyone including Kane and Big Show with Masters. But nothing comes out of the other guys mouth and Carlito wonders if it’s because he double-crossed him all those times and ask if they are cool. Masters then slaps Carlito and says “Now, we’re cool”.

— RVD is interviewed by Maria and bad mouths Carlito cuz he’s “ROB-VAN-DAM”

— Shelton takes Mama backstage as he sees Flair with his uh- lady friends (Torrie, Candace Michelle, and Victoria) as he lets him know that he has his confidence back and that he’s ready to take back his IC title. Flair calls him a Mama’s boy, and mama’s boy’s don’t beat nature boy’s for gold. Woooo!

— Mickey wants to return the love to Trish for counting the win against Ashley from last night. And calls out the GREATEST WOMEN’S CHAMPION EVER Trish Stratus. (Hey, Mickey’s words, not mine… but I cant disagree) Balloons (party ones ok!) and confetti fall from the rafters. Also gets the Spirit Squad to do a little cheer. Ashley makes her way down and we get more balloons (yeah, now I’m talking about those kind!) And Ashley tells Mickey that Trish doesn’t love her, crushing her heart. As the crowd chants “she’s a pshyco!” Fight insues as Mickey knocks out Ashley with a kick to the head. And Mickey STILL thinks that Trish cares for her. Wow this was a looonng segment.

RAW Analysis
— Well this was a quick show for me. Main gripe was that there was way too much talking tonight and once again not that much focus on the matches, even though they were actually decent matches. I’m just afraid of the McMahon/HBK storyline and how far they are going to input themselves into the show now. Even though its good to see Shane back, I just hope they don’t over do it. And as far as Cena/ Edge… I’m still not sure where they want to go with this, and it was a shame that they did pull the plug so soon on Edge, but kept things interesting by giving the DQ win to Edge, maybe that gives him another rematch match. Wrestlmania!? Hmm, well either way the road to the granddaddy of them all has begun, so things from here on out should be interesting. Decent show, avoidable if need be, especially with “24” on.

— Super Bowl XL: Yup its here… well not here, but this weekend its here so, yeah you get my drift. Again, not all glitz and glamour in this game, but big hits and good football are definitely in. This should be a good one, and I’m thinking its going to come down to the wire.

Seahawks- 31 Steelers- 28

In a nail bitter. So that does it for me, enjoy Super Bowl weekend and do the usual, eat and drink lots, then call in sick for Monday!!!! Till that Super EVENT, I’m out… peace!
