Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Gauntlet II – (Episode 9)

Cue the music..cue the entrances..cue the cool water scenes where everyone comes up through the water to the surface and they are dry as a bone! Those were the veterans and now the rookies are already on the beach and they fight it out…

We open up with Jillian telling Susie and Cara that she told the rest of the team about the “alliance”. Jillian says that she didn’t tell them that Cara and Susie were going to do it or not. Susie says that Jillian was there as well. Jillian didn’t want to look bad and made it seem like it was just Cara and Susie. Susie says that “Jillian is a hero now and Cara is the villian now.”

They all go talk to the rest of the team now. Jillian backtracks her story. Ibis tells Cara that Jillian made it seem like the alliance was Cara’s idea. Jillian says she didn’t say that. Kina says she did. Kina then tells them that the fact that they even talked to the other team about members of their own team is “pissing her off!” Cara tells Kina that she is not “approachable” and Kina says okay and walks off. Cara says that is no way to get anything done.

Robin tells the “veterans” about what happened with Cara and Susie and the “rookies”. The alliance included Brad, Timmy, and David. David says that is not true. Brad says that Cara came up to her and was concerned with the fact that her and Susie could be eliminated next since they were not on the same ‘Road Rules’ as Kina was on. That is true, since Kina, Jillian, Ibis, AND Jodi were on the same ‘Road Rules’. Brad says that he feels “violated” now. He is here for the team and no one else. No sure if the majority of the people believe him or not.

Time for a clue! “Lets hope your team balance doesn’t shift tomorrow!” Timmy says the “veterans” have lost twice in a row now and they can’t lose a third time.

Beth says that being the captain is a bad position. She doesn’t want to have to “bitch slap” someone. Julie says everyone has to be nice to Beth or Beth will screw them. Montana says that Beth “has the credibility of a late night info-mercial!” Beth states to the cameras that Montana is the next to go into the gauntlet! Yay!

Commercial time!

Time for the challenge! It’s called “Balancing Act”. Each team has to transfer team members across a couple of parallel ropes hanging in the air. Two members of the team will try to balance themselves by hanging onto a rope and walking across their own ropes. The team that gets the most across wins the challenge. This looks hard. It’s “female gauntlet day”.

Jeremy says the “rookies” plan to have members of their team with the same size as partners. Alton and Landon are first up for the “rookies”. Trouble already. They start over and over again. Derrick and Mark know that this is hard as they are two of the best players on the “rookies”. But they finally do make it to the other side. It took 11 minutes! HA! “Rookies” up by 1!

Syrus and Mark are first up for the “veterans”. They have little trouble until the end, where they screw up and fall into the water! Four-feet away and Mark takes a nasty fall.

Kina and Jillian are up next for the “rookies”. Trouble from the start from them. And good gawd..Kina takes a nasty fall into the water. Susie says their captain can’t even get two feet across and that is a bad sign.

Derrick and Katie are up for the “veterans”. Katie wants Derrick to support her more. Yep..they suck as well. They fall!

Susie and Cara are up for the “rookies”. Susie falls about halfway through and it was a good try. Kina hugs them after their attempt. Maybe they have made up now.

Robin and Julie are up for the “veterans” and they fall halfway through as well. I get the feeling that the “supermen” will take this thing again!

Jeremy and Jamie try for the “rookies”, but they go nowhere. Kerplunk!

Montana and Aneesa give it a go for the “veterans”. But one nasty fall later and they are out! This sucks!

Randy and M.J. are up for the “rookies”. No luck for them either.

Brad and David are up and T.J. says they have the best chance for the “veterans”. They could get a faster time than Alton and Landon. However, they lose their balance and jump back to the platform. All good, except for the fact that they let go of the rope and jumped back, which is against the rules. They are DQ’ed!

Jodi and Ibis are the last team for the “rookies”. They get across and the “rookies” win..more than likely. They look good at first. Robin says they look good, but they fall about 3/4 of the way through.

Timmy and Beth are left. They can win it for the “veterans” if they get across in under than 11 minutes. Timmy has to hold up that “big girl”! Sorry for him! Although, he is old..so that should balance things out. They do a “false start”. They go back to the platform. They are taking a lot of time. Timmy tries to “Dr. Phil her” across this rope. HA! He wants to win. Julie says it’s “go time!”

Commercial time!

We are back and the “veterans” are yelling at Timmy and Beth. They have to go now. Beth doesn’t think she can make it across. Montana says the rest of the team is “embarrassed”. Beth won’t even try. They are pissed as Beth doesn’t do anything. Time expires! The “rookies” win! And lookie there..Alton and Landon win for the “rookies” again! Kina gets a gift certificate to Fossil Jeans! Beth is going to the gauntlet! Hmm..I wonder who she will pick.

Time for the “gauntlet deliberation”! Montana knows that she is up. Montana wants it to be Beth vs. Beth. Julie says that everyone votes for Montana, because they are both “big girls”! HA! And Montana can take out Beth..hopefully! T.J. comes in to spin the wheel. Jesus! The demon wheel lands on “Captain’s Choice” AGAIN! Stop the madness! Beth goes with “Reverse Tug-O-War”! This should be fun.

Time for the gauntlet now! Beth says it will be a “bitch fight”. The “rookies” make signs (“Tug Her Rug!”, “Beth Mount Montana!” and “D-Fence!”) as Randy says this will be the most “entertaining” gauntlet ever! The bell is rung and they both go down. They tug and tug. They dig and dig. Nothing. I hope the rope snaps due to the weight! Derrick looks bored and damn..Beth wins! Beth comes back to her team and most congratulate her, but Derrick said he wanted Montana to win and calls Beth..”the meanest f’n person in the world!” Beth seems stunned by that comment. Please!

Aneesa says that Beth mocks the team by saying that “she is back” and all of that. They say they have to “kiss her ass” now so she won’t throw a mission. The bottom line is that the “veterans” are still on the road to nowhere! Montana says that “good doesn’t always win over evil.” And Beth does a stupid little witch laugh! I swear..that better be a character she is playing.

Montana says goodbye to everyone. She says that no girl can beat Beth in the “Reverse Tug-O-War”! Beth says “karma’s a bitch!” Again..the stupid witch laugh. Shoot me now!

And we are out until next week!

I'm not embarrassed to say that my favorite television show of all-time is The O.C. I live by the motto "you can't fight fate!" More importantly, I watch WAY too much television, but I do so for the benefit of everyone reading this now. So to my mom and my wife, I say thanks for reading! To everyone else that might stumble across this, remember TiVo should be your best friend!
