[TNA] Huge Rumor on a Move to Prime-Time

Archive

Wade Keller at PWTorch.com is reporting that Spike TV and TNA are very close to announcing that iMPACT! will be moving to prime-time.

Rumored New Spike TV Thursday Night Schedule
8-9pm TNA iMPACT!
9-11pm UFC Unleashed and The Ultimate Fighter

Take this for what it is — a rumor that comes on the heels of a record 1.1 cable rating (approx. 1.3 million viewers) from last Saturday’s iMPACT! featuring the TV debut of Sting. As previously reported, plans for a Monday night special have been nixed, with a “best of” UFC special being put in the Monday slot when RAW is preempted this month for the dog show. The next opportunity to do something like this with TNA would be in September when the USA Network will be showing the US Open instead of RAW for two weeks in a row. Spike would want something really special for that show, should a Monday event take place, so time will tell.

PWInsider.com is reporting that a move to a primetime weekly slot has been decided, and that there’s a big meeting in NYC today to determine which day and other details. Spike TV has a press teleconference scheduled with Samoa Joe for Tuesday, so that may be when they are targeting making this announcement.

We’ll have more on this as it’s available.
