The Gospel of Wrestling: According to Matthew

I’m in a pissy mood today. See, I still haven’t found a replacement job to tide me over until the E comes a callin’ – which they quite possibly may never do. The job market in this little idealic Dawson’s Creek-esque town I live in is dreary and after living here the better part of two and half DECADES, I have to tell you I’m at my wits end in this latest job search.

Fuck it! I’m going to buy a DVD – that’ll show them!

So Monday afternoon, as the anticipation of last night’s RAW was reaching fever pitch(which I bought last week – funny movie, fallon is a new god), I went out and bought RVD: One of A Kind. I spent most of the evening leading up to Raw watching that and then viewed the rest this morning. I’m not going to get into great detail about the DVD, but it was enjoyable. I especially enjoyed the alternate commentaries with Paul Heyman and Van Dam – it made the matches with Balls and Sabu that much more enjoyable to see again. I’ve met Rob a couple of times in my life. In Sacramento, both times. Once at Arco Arena and then again a couple of years later he and I had a neat little meeting outside of the Good Day Sacramento studios where he hooked me up with tickets to a RAW show the next week. December 1st od 2003 – the show where Mick came back and I think Van Dam main evented with Shawn and Goldberg against Kane and god – I don’t remember! Fuck it! The DVD was worth cash, though I KNOW there are better representations of RVD matches in the WWE than what they put on there. I mean the Hardy matches were purposeful. The Ladder match with Christian was a great reminder to me of how cool both of those guys are. But where’s RVD vs. Stonecold? Or RVD vs. Angle?

Okay, now I’ve been watching this crap my whole life. It takes alot to excite me. And nothing seems to be doing it as of late. I do like the “idea” of the Road to Wrestlemania tournament, though. Some interesting match-ups last night, all of which lead down the same Yellow Brick Road straight to Triple H vs. Rapper Boy in Chi-Town.

I would mark out for real if the E puts RVD over Hunter in two weeks. Will it happen? Not likely.

Trip and Flair had an ok-ish match – nothing to special considering some of their latest efforts against each other. It served it’s purpose, but if I were Paul Lesvesque I would hate myself. I’ll job for Ric Flair until the day I day. And be proud of it. Unfortunately, Hunter is focused on the future – well, his future actually – and that’s all that should matter to us, the fans.

Van Dam took out Carlito as expected. He’ll do the same next week to Masters and then his heat will be killed. Why not make the Wrestlemania match a Triple Threat – HHH vs. Cena vs. RVD.

I’d buy that.

I love Maria. Almost as much as I love Ashley Massaro and Mickie James. This generation of RAW Diva is ‘Da Shit! Maria’s opening skit with Edge and Lita and then eventually Duggan, Foley and Cena was cool beans for me. Good stuff all around, I’m a big mark for Hacksaw to this very day and his involvement was fun for the time being. This is all leading to Edge breaking away and feuding with Foley for his WM-moment. Didn’t Orton already kill that legend?

I already hate John Cena. I’m already well aware that he got most likely got more pussy in the first month of 2006 than I will get before the end of this decade. So seeing him make out with Maria was just sour grapes. Go f*ck a rat John, leave Maria’s sumptous lips for us! Now she’s been tainted forever!

The Spirit Squad is a retarded gimmick. But from what I hear there are some talented boys behind those annoying cheers. I’ll give them the benefit fo the doubt.

Poor Shelton, first he thinks he’s getting a push – but that turns into a big joke. Now Momma is down for the count. She’ll be back, I imagine. Just in time to help Shelton beat The Nature Boy for the IC title. I call for a Re-match at Mania then for those two!

Captain Charisma vs. The Samoan Wrecking Machine

Didn’t get around to writing about TNA last week. I wanted to and I still want to. Maybe with Final Resolution right around the corner the writing bug will really bite me as we near the weekend. If not, let me just say that if Christian doesn’t leave with NWA title I’m going to be a little more just butt-hurt. Samoa Joe vs. Christian should be the hot feud of this summer for TNA and I just hope someone in that company can put down there pipe long enough to see that.

By the way, good to see all that money to get Sting has been paying off. I mean – I’ve gone OUT OF MY way to watch Impact the last couple of weeks. So something must be working. Of course, I don’t tune into Impact to see the Stinger. No self-respecting fan would. I tune in to see Mike Tenay. Isn’t he dreamy?

Okay, now that I’ve totally buried myself. I am looking forward to getting that new ECW DVD today. Probably seen most of it before. So with Raw airing Thursday night next week, I’ll still be back here with some thoughts on this weeks Smackdown and other stuff. Who knows. It’s a stream of consciousness anyway at this point.

Take care and always sell a bitchslap – even if it doesn’t hurt.
